Cypress Point Club is a private golf club in California. The club has a single 18-hole course, one of eight on the Monterey peninsula near Monterey, California. The course is well known for a series of dramatic holes that play along the Pacific Ocean that have been named as some of the best in golf.  It was designed in 1928 by Alister MacKenzie, collaborating with fellow golf course architect Robert Hunter.

Set in coastal dunes, the course enters the Del Monte forest during the front nine and reemerges to the rocky coastline for the finishing holes. The signature hole is #16, which requires a 231-yard tee shot over the Pacific to a mid-sized green guarded by strategically placed bunkers.

Cypress Point Club was ranked #2 on Golf Magazine's 2011 List of the Top 100 Golf Courses in the World and #5 on Golf Digest's 2011-12 list of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses.

Recommendations:

Wind Speed - High or Very High
Wind Direction - North or Northwest
Everything else default. Greens are soft and 153 and if they go up any higher, it's gonna be a bad time. The weather and time of day especially I would leave at default. I have it set to where the clouds occasionally block the sun and if you happen to hit the inland holes when it's shaded and foggy, it's magical. Enjoy!

Wow,what a course could not get over the view when the camera panned on the hole below,If the course was a little tougher and longer for computer play i think this would be my all time favourite design just amazing work.(i did not get any cloud to 3rd round loved it sunny).

Last round on card (9 under) was under Recommended setting, first two just default setting. It's like any great real course will play great on any high wind setting.

I've been waiting for someone to design this course accurately. I can't wait to play and review it. Thank you

Outstanding job with this one, you have been a favorite designer of mine since I played "Kamauri Cliffs", I still think that course should have won the contest.  The rock work on that track was absolutely amazing.  I also enjoy your "Sweetens Cove Course".  I've just had time to play the back side, really enjoyed my time there.  Some of the views are some of the best I've seen in the game, a very natural looking course, I'm looking forward to playing the front.  Thank for all the work and imagination it took to create this masterpiece.  Without question this is a 5*fav.

Yea this is definitely lower quality than rock person's work. Jk, I'm going to redownload the game to play this course. How did you mange to get a good set of lidar? everything I found had huge missing chunks.

Playing it now. Very nice. So you don't think it can handle 187 greens? Maybe make a 170 ish version?

Welcome to try but I don’t think it will handle much above the current green speeds.  I think to make it legal without touching the LIDAR at all I was at 130 which was too slow to even be fun.

I did some sculpting on 5, 9, and 18 to tone those down to make it playable at 153.  There’s still a couple tiny yellow spots around some pins even at that.

Russ, I didn’t have any problem with the LIDAR I used.  A couple hole surfaces didn’t pull in from OSM so I had to measure and add those the old fashioned way, but the sculpting made it pretty easy to see where everything went.  Then I always delete the bunkers and redo those by hand with brushes instead of splines after importing them from OSM.
