I played the first 2 at +2 each... Not helped by me leaving my driver settings on hardest after doing some course testing. Kept forgetting to lower the shot shaper down. Very tough regardless though. Tyler obviously wants more balls for his lake balls business!

How are people getting on with this one?

I had a nightmare... +12 for the tour :o

I will say however I was in silly playtesting mode so I had the odd tin cup moment in there and you really need to keep an eye on green speed, there is a good mix this week.

I think I know my favourite but I'll be playing them all again before I pass final judgement :)

Yeah, lol, I was in a funny mindset that time. I normally try to get a decent score but I was in play testing mode :-D. Not easy holes either

For me, Saxony and Pine Park stood out.  Both were a stiff challenge in different ways.  I happened to make better shots on Saxony and took an ill-advised risk on Pine Park that cost me 2 shots.

Right... Still haven't gotten to these reviews. Work keeping me busy and now I've managed to get myself into the Olympics design contest over at TGCT. I'm happy and keen to do them though but only really if people want them. I'll assume people aren't fussed unless they ask.  I'm going to assume Neutreus6 still wants his review so I'll do that one for sure. Any others give me a shout on here or PM. It helps motivate me to find the time if I know people are keen for them. Cheers

As I haven't heard anything, I assume people are cool about me skipping out on the majority of the reviews :).  Thoroughly enjoyed these courses so nothing against those at all.

Will post Neutreus6's in a mo

Neutreus6 - Buick Grange Country Club (Holes 8, 12 & 18 )
Forums: HB
Fairways: Med, Greens: Med Soft, Med Fast

I played the updated version of this "Buick Grange Country Club (2016 Revision)".

First off, I'd like to say how fantastic the greens are on this course. Almost every one I found myself noting 'excellent green'. There were often multiple ways to play the ball in due to clever placement of slopes, but none of them were overdone. Around the pins the slopes were rarely flat and very smooth.

I didn't make notes on all of the holes, the ones I didn't I just enjoyed playing.  I thought on the whole the course was very well done.

The course starts with a strong par 5. The main fairway narrows approaching the water ahead making anyone wanting to cut a little off the second shot have to take care. There is also a second option, which is the extremely narrow second fairway beyond the water. If you don't make that second fairway there are some well placed bunkers short of the green. I thought the water was well done, many designers are concerned with where the water is, but neglect the fact you can see through the water at the right angle, the consistant shallow depth was well done.

I wish I had taken a picture of the 5th to attach... it is a very good looking tee shot. One thing I noticed was the length of the carry.  225yards I believe is just about OK, even in a strong headwind, however the lack of forward tees means that if this was a real course anyone playing would have to carry 225 off the tee which is a bit unrealistic.

On the 6th, I thought the middle fairway could do with being lowered.  For one it blocks the view from the first fairway of the green, and it also has a very steep and unnatural looking slope into the water. Is it a nice looking green and is a shame to hide it. Another picky thing was the lack of bridge to get to the green except for one several hundred yards upstream.

Loved the green on the driveable par 4 7th, I was inches from using the backstop to get close to the hole, great fun.

9 was an interesting hole. There was an island in the middle that is small but reachable.  I managed to hit it but was surprised that it was light rough and not fairway. Even so, it is a possible option as you are only just over a hundred yards away. If it wasn't intended as an option I'd make it heavy rough or something... I also realised whoever mowed it must have taken a boat to do so :-D

11 was another great hole.  Driveable par 4 with the right shape, protected by trees but accessible to someone confident with shot shaping and/or the right wind. Looked fantasic too.

13 was a unique looking green, really enjoyed it protected by a curtain of rocks. I also liked on 16 how the green feeds down to the hole.

Overall, a good looking course with some interesting hole designs.  All that is needed really is a bit more subtlety to take it up a level.  I would look at leaving a strip of rough between fairway bunkers and the fairway behind them to allow you to raise up the backs and make them 'pop'.  I would recommend that others give it a play, most definitely a fun round.
