Hey All going to start this project while I am finishing up my Alpine course.  Holes are routed, all greens are double greens, I want to areas on each green for the out and in holes so there is no confusion.  I think it will be a fun build.

My Courses:
GunFlint Trail GC
Macaw G.C.
Cathedral Pines G.C.
Spruce Harbor G.C.
Evelyn Hills Golf Club
RCR - Chom0nix
Valley Meadows

Thanks for the read Royce.  I was looking at his layout too.  He has a few course here in Minnesota as well, nine hole layouts, mostly executives and par 3s.   My course will probably be like Forest Dunes with wide fairways with multiple ways to get to the greens.   I think I laid it out with kind of the same thought on some holes straight on and others coming in at an angle.     I see lots of interesting fairway shapes as well as routing.  I think with this build I will likely go with paper layout then onto GNCD.  I'm thinking of starting with 9, 10 and 1, 18 just to get the flow going.

Got some work down last night just roughing in 9,10 and 1,18.  Kind of not sure if I should go with Tradition shaped bunkers or more messy style.   I'll post some pics when I get home from work tonight and see what you guys think.  I am leaning towards messy style because they are easier to make look decent from different angles.  I was also thinking about using mostly finger bunkers as they also can look good from different angles.

In my home town of New Richmond WI I grew up playing a reversible nine hole course. Was pretty fun.

Doak really made a name for himself in our neck of the woods.  At one time I think Minny had 6 or 7 reversible courses now there is only 3 or 4 I think.

Check out The Reversible Course A and B in TGC1.  I based the idea off Tom Doak's course in MI.

Windsong Shores

The hardest part is to make the shared holes (Fairways), not look like the same hole ...

I think I played that last year when it came out DDawg.   I get the feeling that I'll be adjusting the layout quite a bit on my plot.  Thank goodness it is only a 9 hole course layout.  I think I might end up moving tees and greens around.  Heck I already moved 10,9 greens a bit.

Fairways are going to be fun as they are going to be crazy shaped I think.   I went clockwise/counter clockwise to make sure the holes will not play the same.  Green complexes are not going to be how I want them as I have to make them 2x as large, but I think it will still work out.

So would it be confusing if on a multi-pin set up I pinned a location that would have been on the 18 green on the 10th and vice versa?  Meaning you are shooting over the 10th pin to get to the 18th?  I'm planning on having tiers or traps separating the greens so you wouldn't be confused on what "green" you are playing, even though you might shoot over the green in front to get the back one. Or do you think I should just plan pinning based on the green assigned to the hole

Personally, I would avoid sharing greens on any hole ... It can lead to confusion  ... but that's just me.  However, it can be pulled of with some good planning and pin placement ...

With a reversible nine layout the greens are shared and some tee boxes as well.  Some holes use the same fairways but will have different angles to hopefully give each hole a different looks coming from the opposite side.   Ideally It would be just one normal sized green, but I wanted this to be a 18 hole play so I have to make them Double the size so I can make it a clear separation on which side of the green belongs to which hole.

So I guess it really doesn't make sense putting, say, the 18th pin on the part of the green that is for the 9th hole.  They only way that works is if I publish two separate nines.  So I guess i'll just keep the multi-pins confined to their assigned parts of the shard greens.

1st tee:

18th tee looking into fairway:

1st and 18th layput

18th green from fairway

I just did some place holding for sculpting and elevation.  Pretty much a rough in.  I am liking the look of the fingered bunkers vs messy style.  so I will delete the ones on the 18th/9th and redo.  I will most likely move the 10th tee box to better align with the 9th fairway, so probably just off to the right of the green

I think that track should be re-released as an official course for newcomers to the game for tgc2. Neat and scoreable. I think more people out there would like it.

The funny part is one version has way more plays than the other.  Not sure the concept was picked up by everyone who played it.
