I am out of commission for a week or two.

My X1 Elite controller is not staying on after disconnecting the USB cable. It will connect with the X1 wireless dongle, then shut down immediately after.

I can play wired, but would rather have the option to play wireless.

Tried all the troubleshooting steps MS recommended and nothing fixed the issue.

Got on Chat last night with MS and they are sending me a complimentary replacement for free even though mine is 2 years old and way out of warranty.

Only downside is I have to send mine back and wait for them to ship the replacement.

At $150 a pop, I think I can wait for the replacement to get here.

Kudos to MS for outstanding customer support.

I can send you one of my 4 PS4 controllers but your game will
most likely suffer.  ;) ::)

Thanks. I'm not a DS guy, but appreciate the offer.

Besides, the DS 4 would likely change the feel of my swing and I prefer not to...

So got it and used it for couple rounds . Actually at this point thought it was harder than the S to use. I was getting very fast DS which I never got before.  I need more time with it though.

One odd thing is I put my plug and play battery made by Microsoft in it and it works but the charge last maybe 30 minutes and it's dead. So I was having to keep it plugged in. I tried another battery from other controller and same thing. These same batteries held charges for a long time with normal Xbox controllers.  Anyone have this issue?

The battery in my elite last a long time, just like with the normal controller. Could it be you charging cable is at fault? Otherwise I would send the elite controller back and get a replacement.

Likely not the controller, but the battery and/or cable.

Try another micro-usb cable and see if you don't get better performance.

I switched out the battery and used my older cable and that seemed to work.

So after a little time with it I really like the controller. Feels really solid and love the weight of it. I did remove the back paddles since I don't need them for golf.  I set my swing stick to smooth and had to mess with the slider to about half way. I put the medium stick on  as well. With that setting I am hitting I pretty consistent. I would not say better than my other controller but I feel like I have better control over my swing. I do have a odd fast and very fast here and there but it does seem to be an improvement.

I have not had time but I would like to see how it does with bf4 with the back paddles and the stick adjustments you can make. I bet it helps with aim and quicker trigger response.

Purchased an Elite on Saturday. Why did I wait so long? What a beaut.

I too have it set to smooth but I'm using the stock analog sticks(the short ones) and also removed the back paddles..I felt they were getting in the way. The weight is awesome. Just a well built controller and worth every penny

Got my replacement Elite controller back from MS yesterday. I was stunned to open the box and find a brand new retail Elite controller in the retail packaging. I'm blown away with the support I received on this.

I plan to play Friday afternoon and see if the wireless adapter shutdown issue still exists. If it does, I will contact MS Support and complain about that as well and see if they send me a new wireless adapter even though I am sure that is not the problem.
