I have asked this very same question also and have had no luck in getting a response. Multi-player is all fine and dandy but playing actual events with 20-75 people, I don't want to just do strokeplay all the time. Seems they're more fixated on the private and online matchmaking ordeal and I already hate the fact if you have a championship with 4 people from 4 different time zones, it's kind of hard to do it live.

Stableford won't be an option as a play format in societies.  Our main focus this iteration was continuing to build out the tour structure that presidents and admins have available to them. Helping recreation of deeper and more authentic tour structures with alternative events and entry requirements.

The last time I played golf Stableford was a viable competition

It's not a question of it being viable or not, it's in the game so of course it is. It comes down to the priority of features and tools we would like to provide the user and the scope of those changes. At this time the addition of new formats for societies is a significant undertaking. Given the majority of events, at least on tour, are stroke play. We wanted to focus on adding more tools to replicate that experience online, with others.

Adding more play formats is definitely high on the list of items to add in the future, but the won't be available at launch.

And even maybe a choice of tees per round so we can emulate proper multi-day tournaments?

And more options to what settings are allowed in a tournament?

When we say "Stableford", are we talking about traditional Stableford, or Modified Stableford?

Stableford is just basically stroke play where you don't get penalized past double-bogey.  A par and an eagle is the same as two birdies (4 points)

Modified Stableford is a system where a birdie and a bogey (1 point) is better than two pars (0 points), and an eagle and a par (5 points) is better than two birdies (4 points).  The idea of Modified Stableford is to offer an extra reward for aggressive play.
