Well they deleted our thread so thought I would start it again.

Talk about or ask questions about 4K set ups with the Xbox X or S.

My setup.

You can see my setup below in my signature. It looks amazing. Today I turned up the sharpness all the way on my C7 and whoa.

Really impressed with the way this game looks and runs in 4K.

Well, it's going to be a bit like recreating the Dead Sea Scrolls; there's gotta be a Russian bot out there that captured our 4K threads in the Xbox One section :D

We gotta start somewhere I reckon.  You turned your sharpness all the way up on your C7!?  I've been running my sharpness on my TCL 55R617 way down at the low end of the scale, like between 8 and 10.  I find the grass textures get a little crystalline looking when I got into the mid-teens, or above on the sharpness.  I've never had the sharpness higher than 35, its default setting.  Maybe I just need to crank it all the way up and see what it looks like?

I'll check it out tomorrow to see how it looks and report back.  BTW, Which AA setting are you using in the game settings menu?  I'm using TAA, and I'm seeing what appears to be a more organic looking image than FXAA.

Yea it will never be the same 😥

I did and I can see crazy details. Like every gray hair on my head. The pitch marks on the greens look real. The leafs on the trees look really good depending on the lighting. It should though for what I paid for this TV.  The grass looks fine to me.

I'm sorry. It should have been profile->modify profile->look and layout->Don't show users' signatures.
Can’t see that either

Good idea to fire it back up Paul. I'd had sharpness turned way down too for the same purpose you mentioned JC but that was for either viewing TGC2 or maybe some other programs ran through apps on Xbox. The only thing I'm watching (app-wise) with Xbox these days is the MLB channel & it looks great at my current settings with sharpness still turned down, 10 or so I think.

I'm going to fool a bit this eve & crank it back up & see what both TGC2019 & MLBtv looks like out of curiosity.
We are talking about a couple of different beast's though between your C7 Paul & these TCL55R617's but I'd assume that can't make too much of a difference with output resolution, can it? Hmmm?

High sharpness settings are never recommended by any TV review sites etc. Sharpness basically enhances the edges of objects but it adds noise to the pic and can make the edges look white.

I tried it for a round, it makes the picture seem more organic in some way but adding the white edges mutes the colours a little.

I use TAA as well JC.

As with anything in life do what you will and be dammed the nay sayers. If you like it that's all that matters.

I tried a few holes with the sharpness cranked to 100 on my TCL Series 6, and it didn't look as natural.  There were a lot of reflective white edges that were really out of kilter.  I didn't think the grass textures, particularly on the greens, blended as smoothly either.  I went back to 12 and I'm going to settle on that for a while.  It's higher than the 8 I was using.

FRSTDWN is using an OLED display, which I'm sure would have some bearing on the differences we're seeing.  I'm very happy with what I'm seeing in the 8 to 12 range though, but I'm sure this will vary with user preferences and display devices.

I don't see any of the white edges. I will look closer though. There are still some settings I have not messed with. I have to Google them because I don't know what they do lol. On the Xbox I have everything on minus DOF.

Very happy with the TV. I need to play it upstairs and see what it looks like on the TCL.

I am constantly saying wow to myself everytime  I play a round. Some courses do look better than others. One that really looked amazing was  The Heritage . On TGC 2 the lighting/shading was horrible at times but on 19 it looks amazing.

I wonder if HB will ever implement HDR?

Now I just need to learn how to play. The short game is killing me and I keep pushing putts.

I cranked the sharpness up in game then started backing down. Between game & MLB TV (animation then humans) I've come back down to stay with the 10-12 range where with the other settings I'd originally posted for this set seems to be just about right. No minor whiteish or crisp looking edges.

Also guessing that'd be the difference between the quality of OLED vs LED. Nevertheless still really happy with this display!

You may not be seeing them on an OLED.

Try using TAA instead of FXAA and see if you don't appreciate the difference.  I don't like the bloom effects, so I turned them off.
