I wish hb would get these looking right, I cant bring myself to use them because the just look as though they are painted onto the landscape to me, ive notice that when you use spline for fairway, light rough, etc, it sits into the ground slightly once you place it, why on earth cant they do that with the cartpaths so it looks a bit more realistic.

From what has been said this summer, the designer did not get much this time around.  Hopefully, the next version will get a number of fixes and upgrades, including the appearance of cart paths.

Cartpaths almost always need to be smoothed anyways.....  when a second surface is applied it looks more embedded.
