I thought it would be interesting to see what combination of consoles and displays folks are using as they play this game.  I have a stock XBox One and a 1080p display in my living room and an XBox One X and a 4K display (a TCL 55" Series 6), so I've seen both ends of the spectrum.  I'm really impressed with how much better the game looks on the X in 4K, but I'm not sure it plays much, if any, smoother/faster.

One thing that I would be really curious to learn is whether those of you who've played TGC 2019 on a standard XBox One and an "S" can sense any difference in the way it plays from one to the other.  I know right after the S was released, there were a number of tests ran by webzines that have the equipment to test frame rates on consoles.  More than one of them reported up to an 11% boost in frame rates with the S versus the stock.

I don't know that you could see much from that in TGC 2019, since it ostensibly is locked at 30 FPS, but it might help prevent occasional judder or dropout.  It could aslo conceivably yield a slightly more responsive swing interface?

The XBox One X video output is the equivalent of a RX580, that's not enough power to run 4k anything. I would think the next Xbox offering would be something along the line of a Vega 64, if they stick with AMD. Although still not the best for 4k gaming, it would be at least playable, and would run very well at 1440p.

A few weeks a go Newegg had Vega 64 video cards on sale for $399.00, that was a steal. So with the prices dropping, I would not be surprised to see them in the next Xbox version, or at the very least the Vega 56. I would think they would also be released with a Ryzen 5 1600/2600, or something along that line.

I take it you haven't seen Forza 7 running in 4K, HDR at 60 FPS via the XBox One X... it's stunning!

I think whatever they come up with, it'll have to come in at under $500 to have a chance, although they'd have to get to more like $400 if they want to stay apace of Sony.

Xbox One X
4K and HDR via a receiver using LG 65 5k with HDR10 7700 series.  Game is on external Samsung Evo SSD

I also have an Xbox one s on a regular 1080p Visio TV.

The game looks obviously better on the Xbox one x. I went on a trip and took the S and used a Samsung smart TV in the hotel which was fine.

I’m not noticing much of a difference in frames but the obvious differences are. This is playing only the official courses old and new.

-load times
-4K
-texture fidelity

That's an impressive setup you've got there NBS!  How much quicker would you say the game loads via the SSD?  I'm toying with the idea of picking one up.

As for your not noticing a difference in the frame rates between the X and the S, I've read that the X is locked at 30 FPS in 4K.  I'm not sure if it would be locked when paired with a 1080p display though, but I'm guessing it would.

Bewair JC when I put the game on my SSD it stutters. He must have a better SSD than me. I'm going to look that one up.

Well I guess I should ask him if he sees any stutter first lol.

Smurf do you see any stutter when ball is in flight or when the ball goes by the hole?

Nice setup BTW. Didn't know there was a 5K tv! How much was that if I can ask?

I found this on what I think he might have. I'm confused on the enclosure part of it. Can someone explain that to me?

Ok looks like the enclosure makes it so you can hook it up to Xbox with USB.

I will be taking my Scorpio to best buy Saturday and will probably pick up this SSD Smurf has.

Please keep us posted on this, and if that drive works out for you, I may pick one up also... I'm going to have a lot more free time on my hands after December 28th, as in early retirement, so I'll be doing a lot more gaming ;D  I'll need an SSD to help me get the most out of it!

Fixed. 😉
