Now that the designer seems more stable with much fewer blue-screen crashes, I’ve set myself a project to complete the following courses in early 2019 -

• RCR of Wychwood Park.
• RCR of another British Open links course.
• A fictional links course.
• A fictional Spanish/Mediterranean course.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Always been my aim to get all the open venues into game,Missing Royal Cliques port(1909,1920),Princes Golf Club (1932),Mussleborough(6 times 1870s,1880s)and Portrush(1951,2019)from this year.

Great info here on Royal Cliques port with green info and great flyover's more info the better.Some recent changes have been made but not much you can do about that.

I thought you were on Portrush? Are you still working on Carnoustie? If you are I acquired a copy of the players course guide and the players green book. I could scan them and email to you if they’d help.



I’d like to do Hillside at Birkdale, but can’t find enough quality information to do it justice.

Nope never touched carnoustie spent about a month on it in TGC1,mapping out the course but retaining walls when playing shots into them never found a way round it.really need a very good carnoustie to do rota justice.Those strokesaver guides are awesome.So helpful espically round the greens for slopes and hollows etc,what 2D views can't see.

Got portrush mapped out,but only got info on about 9 of the greens,plus not found a way yet to do the bunkers,noticed when adding a shape bunker it gives it a bit of depth but still those awful lines around the fairway.



Just starting to design from the Top of the course now its all measured out,but going to be a awfully tough course to get anywhere near.

Royal St David’s is another fine links course that seems to slip under the radar, but again very little data out there to attempt a decent RCR.

I think sooner or later someone is going to have to take Carnoustie by the horns, but as you said the water and walls are scaring us all!

It’s the amount of walls and water that worries me and it’s in such prominent locations it has to be spot-on, you can’t mask it in any way.

Garbage! Just like the bunkers, no response or solution.

try laying another layer of water as far as you can go below it,see if it improves it.

you lose the view of water on the overhead,but with the retaining walls should make it look better.

It’s not the water that’s the problem, it’s what the water does to the fairway grass behind the retaining wall. It turns the grass to a rock surface that can’t be covered again.

None of these links courses will ever look right until we get FESCUE !!!!

Don't think there is any way to make them like carnoustie with the retaining wall,and just a layer of water at the bottom.
