Signal strength shows excellent.Download speed of  64 mbps.My TCL is only about 4 feet from router.Software version is 9.00 Build 4142.Last update March 7.

My new 65" shows build 4151 but it is directly connected to my router. The other TCL is a couple of years old.

Hmmm... mine shows Build 4151, and was last updated on March 26th.  Is yours set for auto update?

Back when I was working still I had a customer that bought a brand new Sony and had the same issue. Could not get it to connect via WiFi to save my life.
I talked with Sony and they had me jump through the usual hoops but still nothing. Never could get it to connect.Hooked up via Ethernet and it worked like a champ.

Sometimes stuff just happens, nothing can do about it.

Good luck guys

Woke up this am and tried to connect and it found my network. It then updated the firmware. Checked the connection and said it's excellent then checked again and said it was weak lol. Who knows....

Getting it hardwired as we speak. Problem solved. Install guy said TCL TVs are notorious for this issue.

I've got an ethernet switch within 5 feet of both of my TCLs so it would be a simple matter for me to tie them both in with a cable.  I need to look into that to save having to go through my XBox Ones, every time I just want to watch TV, movies, or You Tube.

Just checked, no such option... Oh, when I did check, I got an immediate, strong connection via wireless.  went back to the menu and checked to see if there was an option like you asked about.  I came back to check connection again, and it says "no internet connection".  Apparently FRSTDWN's install guy is right about the TCL's fickleness in wireless connectivity.  Oh well, the ethernet cables will be hidden.

Say... it's nice to have an actively discussed topic in the "Off Topic" section again, eh?  :D

I also hardwired my sons Xbox so he is happy. I just do no get it though. It worked fine for like year and then it just stopped one day. What pisses me off is what if I did not have the resources to get it hardwired? I would just be SOL for the TV and have to use the Xbox to watch Hulu or Netflix. I actually got lucky to the install guy said because the wall that the TV in on was in a perfect spot for him to pull the wires up through the basement. If not he said they would have had to drill a hole through the hardwood floor.

Being a small business owner I hate that big companies can get away with this crap. It is not right.

I ordered a couple of Cat 6 ethernet cables yesterday from Amazon, and to my surprise they came today.  I hooked both of my TCLs, living room and rec room, into their respective ethernet switches.  The difference in performance is astounding.  I get no buffering and pausing, and the menus pop up soooo much quicker.  The wife is MUCH happier with getting on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and You Tube now via the Roku remote, than having to go through the XBox One X.

We have had Wifi trouble since March & it has only just been fixed.
We have a dual band router that automatically selects bands for connecting devices.
We have now set this to manual with two SSID's (2.4 & 5) I have set all devices to connect to the 2.4 channel & we haven't seen one drop out since.

Yes this is why I made mention of the  2 bands...also you have field overlaps in your house..they make an app you can put on your phone, you can then map out the fields in your house  and move some around if you want...I forgot what the  app was callled  :-[

Always hard-wire to the Internet when possible.  There‚Äôs no comparison with speed and signal quality between hardwired and using WiFi.
