I agree with both statements!  I use a controller to design on my PC, but a mouse would be much better for fine movements; trying to jiggle the stick just right to get a point where you want it takes a lot of time sometimes.  What we need is a mouse with 20 buttons or a controller with a much smoother "mover" lol.

I must be one of the exceptions .... I exclusivly use keyboard and mouse for designing .... on PC ...

Maybe I'm getting old, but I think I can control the mouse a little better and might be more proficient with the mouse.
I have a tendency with the joystick that I have to erase splines and redo surfaces.

There are a few designers that use a mouse and keyboard @bovakian is one of them but I’ve always used the pad because I don’t know all the shortcuts with the keyboard as I’m new to the designer on PC.

The Xbox one does support k/b and mouse I think but not sure if it has to have support in the game.

It does in some games apparently, I wasn't sure finit does for TGC though
