I'm getting 1mph too

I'm not complaining though - there was nothing more annoying that trying to test a course and getting 6,7,8k winds all the time.

I think the ultimate utopia would be to be able to select the wind in the creator.

I can remember reading some past posts asking for 0 wind in the course creator. 

However, I think having adjustable wind direction and speeds available in the course creator extremely beneficial in laying out bunkers and hazards on the course.

I've seen that too (no wind).
What would be realy helpfull is a "Windselector" (and later even Weatherselctor) in GNCD where you can set speed and direction. This would allow more accurate testing of the holes.

Yes indeed.  Now that this thread has been moved to the 'bug reporting' section I'm afraid that they will change it back to the random wind again.  Please no.

Obviously being able to set the direction and strength would be ideal for designing, but going back to the random wind would be a big step backwards.

I don't need to be able to "set the wind" for a course to be designed well.

However, setting a prevailing wind direction and maybe a RANGE of MPH would be pretty awesome. The wind won't always be directly from the same direction but it could be from the North/northeast/northwest instead of from the south and then north and then east and have a range of mph instead of 0 - Typhoon.

Would that work?

Update on this...

This was a design decision and will remain this way through release.  However, it is our intent to give you guys a wind slider in the GNCD so you can control the wind for testing purposes.

Many...many people said it was annoying to test with random winds in the GNCD and they wanted to be able to turn the wind off.

So, we figured that better to be able to test in consistent, low-wind conditions than totally random wind.  But, as I said, we will be giving you a dial to control wind in the GNCD not too far after launch, me thinks.

Given that it is only in the course creator, I fail to see how it is drastic, and the fact they intend to give us adjustable wind in the creator in the future, is nothing but a great thing.

There wasn't an announcement, or you wouldn't have missed it   It fell through the cracks and didn't make it in to the build notes...and I didn't know about it until yesterday....when I told you guys

Having released The Elderglenn and played it in different wind conditions... yes...this would have been VERY helpful during construction. Good to know a slider may be in the works for testing purposes.
