The Tennis Club?
« on: March 07, 2015, 12:26:03 PM »
There is a gaping hole right now in the market place across all platforms for a quality tennis simulator.  With no competition in sight, and the core principals already defined in the TGC there might be an opportunity for HB-studios to capitalize on this window.

Key Ingredients

- Focus development on a good authentic quality brand of tennis gameplay
- Designer tools to create courts (Clay, Hard, Grass, themes etc.). “So & So Court Designer”
- World Rankings
- Global Tournaments etc.

Omg. I'd be all over this. It's my sport in real life. Ranked #5 in NC. Darcy, this is my product as well I sell across the world. Www.tennisrungs.com. Great idea!

Nice. Fancy myself a little bit of a tennis nut as well. I follow the tours pretty closely right down to the challenger & futures levels. Actually one of our high potential Canadians (Brayden Schnur) is playing for the Tar Heels right now and has them doing pretty well.

Really the only sim out there is Tennis Elbow for the PC? I think there would be some solid potential for something like this if left in the arms of these talented cats at HB.

Tennis Rungs looks rock solid. Does it operate on the 52 week ranking cycle like the ATP?

What would be the unique selling point? The GNCD was what got us noticed with golf. If we kept with brand and had no attribute building and no equipment hoarding. How could we sell it to the public?
As an idea I like it, just got to sell it to the guys with the purse strings

There in lies the rub.

I've been scratching my head as well. I think there is something here for sure, it just may take a bit of massaging and a few minds to hash out.

The "court designer" could be the selling feature for TTC as well. Tennis clubs, much like golf courses have a certain cache or beauty to them that attract the eye. Giving the users the tools to create their very own centre court, court one, and outer courts, aside from the surface itself could be fulfilling on its own merit.

I suppose interchangeable assets from TGC such as clubhouses, trees, flowers, water, could be imported. However big ticket items such as mocapping and locations, which can give each club its own individual personality, i.e. Indoor facilities (arena setting), beach/tropical (Monaco, Acapulco), classic grass facilities (Newport, Eastbourne, London/Queens ), desert (Indian wells, Dubai) might be a bit of challenge. Themes issue to tackle?

The real challenge may come in the form of match making. How to tackle play between users if there are tournaments schedules on a global clock. Also maybe a random match generator?, Club members?

Other Ideas
- Night Tennis
- Tours and Tournaments could remain the intact from the TGC.
- By making each individual aspect of the game challenging yet rewarding to master (serving, volley, baseline) users can concentrate on developing their own unique play styles.

At the this point I am more or less just tossing out ideas. My thought is there might really be some solid footing here if HB decides to continue with this sandbox approach. Tennis might be a logical next step to continue further developing a type of brand.

i think antony and hb a right about this one,  for a tennis game to sell you would need licensed events  ie  Wimbledon, flushing meadows  and such plus  real pro,s  like  murray, federer,  and  that big serb  that  i cant  spell   lol

Having played just about every PC tennis game since the beginning of time, I'd love to see a new one that's finally really good.
Gameplay realism is the most important thing to me - realistic stroke play, realistic AI for the opponents, different challenges on different court surfaces, up to date graphics, realistic tournaments.

These features would persuade me into purchasing the game.

The best game around right now is Full Ace, an indie game that hasn't been updated for a couple of years, but the developer promises he will get back after his current project.

Based on your work on The Golf Club, I'm sure HB Studios could develop a great tennis game.

The tennis club would be so cool! night tennis would be a cool idea from Dubsonic. Also the tours and tourney’s. Court designer would be sick. Also different surface options like grass clay and hard court.
- Hockey Island

Courses:
Volcano Island (WIP)
Golden Gate Golf Links (WIP)
Maple Valley (Completed)
