I  still play around with it ... but for now, it's on the back burner as I'm waiting for the right theme and a proper fitting background / backdrop.  I have too much time invested to drop the project, but a theme flip will be work too.

Problem too, is I did not have the distance tools when I began the project. . . Now, I am not so happy with all I done.   I may just release what I  have and start over from scratch.   

I  really just don't know.  I do know I am not going to release it as the Olympic Club.  I need a hedge walls,  a theme that has palm trees, cypress trees, redwoods, oaks, pines ... hills on 3 sides ocean on the west side. Hills with city skyline preferred.

I want it done right. But.

I flipped the theme to highland ... so, I could have an ocean coastline. Had to remove a bunch of the trees I planted in the boreal theme.
Wouldn't yu know it would be 90 Degrees off ...

Been a long time since I posted in here ... I still work on the "Course" ... but I just get frustrated with my progress and those pesky continuous compromises.

And the current look at the "Lake Course"  ... I am still not sure what to do with this ... I do not like compromising this course.  I do not like the Highlands theme for this course for the tree selection. I wish I could use the Backdrop and rotate it.

The Boreal has the closest tree set needed, but not even 70% happy with those ... I have way too many hours invested to start over.

But with out a Proper Theme to make it work ... PACIFIC WEST COAST ... and a backdrop to fit the area ... Or even be able to rotate in 90 degree increments ... I am stymied ... I get so frustrated playing with my options ... none really seem to work like I want.

Hard to create a real course to begin with, and I cant  let this one be called a real course if I can't make it close enough for my liking ...

However, I won't let this work go to waste .... LOL



Everytime I mess with this damn course I make myself a ton more work ... it has been almost a year in the "works"

But, I would need better tools/Theme before I would spend a kings ransom for such a book, just to do a course and have it get down-rated by all my haters out there.  I have teasers released a few time, it still is quite a work in progress ... eveery time I work on it I keep changing crap.

I want this course do right and to be the best it can be to real ... And I won't publish it until I am happy that I have achieved my goal ...

You don't know how may times I have wanted to start this over.

I probably would if I had the theme I keep asking for ... Since the beginning of this project almost a year ago.  I even asked JohnEric to beg for it ... seems HB listens to him ... LOL since he wears an Anthony tattoo on his backside ...

You definately have to bite the bullet and get this done. It looks amazing and the info you have is excellent and I'm sure it's 99.9% complete and doing your head in trying to figure you're issues/reservations out regarding the planting, plot layout, background etc, etc.

If it were mine I would use Highlands theme and drop it on an island, this should sort out a couple of your issues, Highlands would certainly have the best mix of trees and enough to pull off the look for sure with a few texture changes IMO, then I'd get creative with the plot borders and build up the land in areas to take the ocean backdrop out of visibility if you can (I used this method for Royal Ballylough, I originally had the course completed in Countryside and waited for Highlands to come out and once it did I ran into the same issue with the Oceanside on the wrong side to where I needed it so I had to improvise my coast and dry land on an island for the look I needed), or worst case mate you could always call it " The Ocean Course @ The Olympian Club"..... Which I actually think sounds great!

So yeah, get this out there and let us all at it, you're front 9 beta was a beast and looked great!

You don't know how close I've came to blowing this whole thing up and starting completely over from scratch ....

 I would have finished this a long time ago if HB would have giving me the ability to:
A] enlarge the plot size (Without having one hole within 50 yards from the border) ...
B] rotate the backdrop in 90 degree increments for use of any theme's backdrop.
C] Global use of trees in any theme
D] ability to reduce tree sizes below the initial size.

and that was a bare minimum.

But the thing that is holding up the progress now is the resizing all the greens to 2012 US Open spec. I found all that info for the 4 rounds, after I had the course laid out  ....
which means a lot of rework and moving stuff around ...

I will not release it until I am am at least happy with it ... It is fine as a "almost wannabe rendition", but nowhere near my standards for what I want to release as an RCR.
