Early Childhood Educator – Salaried Full Time

Purpose

HB Studios is looking for an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to operate its new on site child care centre beginning September 2008. The successful candidate will provide quality care while encouraging age appropriate development in children. She/he will be a positive role model, fostering a fun and a healthy learning environment.

The ECE will be expected to work 40-45 hours per week. As an HB Studios employee, she/he will receive a competitive salary plus group benefits. (Please note; the centre will take a maximum of six children per day.)

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent experience with children
• Current emergency First Aid/CPR certificate
• Strong desire and ability to work cooperatively with parents, staff, and volunteers
• Knowledge and understanding of child growth and development
• Sensitivity to the concerns of parents of young children
• Demonstrate respect for people of different ethnicity, cultural, and social backgrounds
• Ability to adapt activities to meet the needs of all children and foster an inclusive environment

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Facilitate the childcare component of the centre’s work
• Be with children, initiating activity with them and preparing activities for each day
• Prepare meals and snacks that parents brought for their children
• Create and maintain a safe and stimulating environment
• Promote outdoor activities year-round

Administration

• Ensure no more than 6 children are scheduled per day
• Direct those who assist in the Centre (other staff, students, volunteers)
• Log the names of children attending
• Note any allergies
• Receive from parents and give to staff any information needed each session (naptimes, feedings, diapering, etc…)
