Lots of good advice here. I tend to try and get approach shot close as I can.
I have a course ready that I designed with this in mind, but will not publish until the server corruption issue is fixed. I don't want to have the server change things on me.
Courses designed :
Richards Pond Delta Golf Course
Statton Hills CC
The Clowns Nest (Morning )
Lil Fry 81
Borderlands Golf
Hide Away Golf Course
Richards Pond Country Clu

You got me thinking, wonder if the server course corruption issue is in any way related to the 90% swing issue we see so much of now on the ps4. Seems like the gameplay/performance on the ps4 gets worse almost daily recently.

Still can't get into the no putting grid, as much as I want to. It simply takes too long and is too tedious......after all that its still a guess that I am wrong 50% of the time with the actual direction of the break, much less the severity. Don't understand how people do this on the ps4. It's a tedious guessing game at best. Sticking with it (for now) as the recent lag/stuttering/constant power loss swings  are taking its toll on me (and a lot of others) on the ps4. Good time to work on the putting. Playing par 3 courses only for now to practice.

This is my issue with it, it takes too long. i enjoy playing that way but man, it takes me long enough to read a green WITH the grid lines, you should see me without them lol. It could take me a good 5 to 10 minutes for one 10 ft putt. Multiply that by 18 holes and I'm spending an hour and a half eyeing up one putt on each hole.... and we know that turns into 2 or 3 putts more often than not :)

I understand the realistic nature of having to walk around the green to get an idea of the line and so forth, I'm not complaining at all. Maybe I should play this way on some Par 3, nine hole courses for a bit so it doesn't take so long to get through a round.

Scratch my practice rounds. Official HB par 3 course corruption, power swing 90% issues, LOWEST winds were 23 mph on 4 rounds, spending more time reading greens (still wrong most of the time).......time for a drink......wait I don't drink.

I think playing no zoom to aim really hurts me. A lot of times the overhead thing does not give accurate info or not enough. So it like a tree is the right mark to aim for then bam I flying over the tree into water. I wont turn it back on but they need to fix it somehow.

Some of us have mentioned our desire to have GPS-like abilities embedded into the overheard view so that you get more information as you would have while actually playing golf IRL.  However, I think this option would only be suitable if turning off the zoom to aim feature.

And I like the ambiguity of trying to find something to serve as an aiming marker.  I think this is pretty realistic.

Yea but if the thing you "find" is wrong then what use it is. I was playing a course and there was a big tree with red leaves at 250 yds on the overhead view thing. it looked shorter by using the golfers view but I went with it. Hit the shot and right in the water I went. That is one of many times that has happened to me. IRL I would know that the tree was not the right marker. Also there are times when the course is cut off from the overhead view so I have no clue what is ahead of me after say 250 yards.

Yes I can use the hole flyby but I don't have time to watch that every hole. I have **** to do.

Speed golf with no aids would be an interesting match.

Those flyby's are always too damn slow.  Every game, too slow.  Who sets those speeds?

I haven't really run into this very often.  I have had it happen but... You can't tell me that hasn't ever happened to you while playing IRL.

I honestly find if you get the speeds down a lot of times I can feel the putt and put it in the hole 70% of the time get your speeds down and it will make it much easier. Just my 2 cents

I have played with no aids from time to time but I find the no grid setting a bit too much for me. It is very time consuming and my eyes get fatigued after a while. I think I will wait until the technology advances so that the grid is no longer needed. I think the ability to toggle the grid on and off would be a good teaching aid for those learning how to read greens with no grid.
