Tgc is avail with protee and also can be used with a gc2, which is what got me.  PG is lining up with skytrack I believe.  But I've picked my horse already.

TGC simulator edition can be purchased for $995.  A year ago GC2 users had to buy the protee software + TGC, which was $1995.  So, the price has dropped to half fortunately.  Foresight will also tell you that you have to buy an SDK from them for $1,000 (or thereabouts) to use other software like TGC.  That's just a cash grab...there are lots of people using TGC with the GC2 without buying the SDK.

I bought my cg2 for $3,200 btw (used).  For you guys, at least you already have the computer.  So, just get a projector and diy screen (and pony up for the software) and you're in business.

Total conversion from pc to sim could be $5-6K if you have the space.

But that's getting off topic...

If people want to use multiple tees in the same round or else for us sim users use a "White tee" version couldn't that just disable the ghost ball feature?  From reading the earlier posts it seems like ghost balls are what makes the multiple tees difficult.  I think many sim users would much prefer to use the multiple tees even if they can't use ghost balls.  Perhaps that would make it easier to implement the feature if they didn't have to make it work with ghost balls.

I expect there's a fair bit of work involved here.  New structure for the definition of saved courses, new options in the designer to support the setup, new options when playing a round to select the various tees for each player.  None of it very difficult or rocket science, but I expect hour-wise (for developers) it's pretty big.  Hopefully it will be made a priority for the next 6 months.  Especially in the simulator space, this needs to happen or it will be a huge disadvantage to PG (which is now supporting simulators).  At $1,000 per sale of the simulator edition (not sure how it's shared between ProTee and HB) it's more than worth addressing this one.

Along with this, I think they need an option when you download a course to make changes to either "Publish" (under a different name/variation) or "Re-Publish" (replace the original with the updated one).  The course database is huge and messy right now...a few years down the road it will be insane.  If there was just one single version of "Magnolia National" with all the options for different tees (Men's, Women's, Championship, ProTee, etc.) that could be updated for pinestraw and replaced, it would be a DRASTICALLY more sustainable structure for the future.

Now that PG has released their competing simulator edition, I think there are two enhancements that are absolutely critical for HB to add in 2016:

1. Ability to define multiple tees in a course definition, and for each player in a group to then be able to select their preferred tees/length
2. Ability to add more than 4 players for a group

As far as I know, PG has the above capabilities which is a huge gap.  I currently can't play TGC on the simulator with my young sons unless i'm willing to play a really short course.  Also, there are times i'll have 4 or 5 guys over to play.  Right now we can't all play a round together unless we make up teams...which just doesn't work if I end up with 5 or 7 people in total.  My only option currently is to use the older red chain software in these scenarios...but I want to be done with that.  Graphically it's a let down to have to resort to that when I have more than 3 people over to play.

Competely true and a glaring omission in a game that should portrait golf and is aimed also at the simulator market.

At 1000$ its a function I'd expect for sure....

The 2 functions you mention are absolutely vital for the game in the simulator.
Imo the game should actually take the data (speed, path and angles of the clubhead at impact) directly from the simulator, as it's your realclub that is messured. If this input is adjusted or not is a point that could be discussed but imho there should not be any adjustement.
This also would create a new dimension of challenge for the course designers as the courses should be playable of all the T's offered and with variable length. As a positive "side effect" the courses created would become much more realistic.
Yet another positive sideeffect of having this functions would be that the game itself would come back to "amatuer" golfing again. Other then the obviously very common opinion the top pro's do not play on different courses then any amateur. There is no such thing as a "champion ship golf course". All there is, is that some courses are slightly modified for hosting pro events. Be it by different mowing, changing T-boxes, etc. Even by playing par 4's off the front T as a par 3 (exmp: Crans Montana CH Hole 16) or play a par 5 as a par 4 (Lich D Hole 7). But the actual course itself is no different then what the "every day" player will find at that specific location.

There are absolutely "Championship" golf courses

Bethpage Black is one, Augusta is another

They have only 2 sets of tees - both difficult.

I'm sure you've seen this sign
Courses I claim in order of how I like em

Pacific Bluffs Golf Club
Soggy Bottom Golf Club
Old Beaver Creek (With Reebdoog)
Deliverance Golf Club
Semmock Golf Club
Oak National
Hanging Tree
Potrornak Links

The rare exception though...not the norm.  I wouldn't pick Bethpage Black to play on the simulator if my 11 and 8 year old sons were joining me.  Chinese water torture might be better.
