Now that PG has released their competing simulator edition, I think there are two enhancements that are absolutely critical for HB to add in 2016:

1. Ability to define multiple tees in a course definition, and for each player in a group to then be able to select their preferred tees/length
2. Ability to add more than 4 players for a group

As far as I know, PG has the above capabilities which is a huge gap.  I currently can't play TGC on the simulator with my young sons unless i'm willing to play a really short course.  Also, there are times i'll have 4 or 5 guys over to play.  Right now we can't all play a round together unless we make up teams...which just doesn't work if I end up with 5 or 7 people in total.  My only option currently is to use the older red chain software in these scenarios...but I want to be done with that.  Graphically it's a let down to have to resort to that when I have more than 3 people over to play.

I agree 100%. Any official word on if they are even considering this and roughly what time frame. It will really cut down on the course inventory.

They can't do it AND have ghost balls - it's really that simple

It's the biggest need in the game in my personal opinion but they seem so connected on ghost balls I don't see it happening.
Courses I claim in order of how I like em

Pacific Bluffs Golf Club
Soggy Bottom Golf Club
Old Beaver Creek (With Reebdoog)

I'll never understand that.  Why can't ghost balls just show from wherever tee the player had used?  Yes dev work is needed, but it looks minor compared to the dev work of actually adding multiple tees.

It's not a ghost ball issue, that's more one of the issues with multiple pins. The problem with Tees is the infrastructure of the holes. They were created to be tee, hole and then the course between it.
So that would all need to be reworked. Then you have all the UI to deal with on top of that.

What you need to remember is the game was never built to be as popular as it has become. It definitely wasn't built with a simulator in mind. So there would be extensive work to get this in and would only please a few people

The good news is that the development community has been fantastic with releasing simulator versions of the top courses.  I keep some pretty extensive lists of the exact naming of the courses over at GolfSimulatorForum.com.

I don't know how important the revenue from the simulator side is, but I agree it's time to start on a new engine that will facilitate things like multiple tees and more play modes (skins, scramble, etc.).  I still GREATLY prefer the look of TGC over PG, but with PG covering all of those options it gets harder to suggest TGC over PG based primarily on graphics.  Remember that on the simulator side the gameplay and level of difficulty don't matter...you're really hitting balls.  So, the graphics are important to feel like you're out golfing, but no one will go forever without the other fundamental features like multiple tees forever.  Start on a new version and continue selling it at $999 if you want (I know protee is heavily involved there) but a new version would be a good opportunity to charge existing simulator customers an upgrade price.  They don't have to do it...they can just stick with TGC if they don't care about the new stuff.  If you bring out a new version supporting multiple tees and the other things we've requested, though, I would bet that the vast majority would gladly pay an upgrade fee in the $250-$500 range.  I know I would.

I can't imagine the sim side is even something worth considering other than if it's difficult to support it out of the box.

But golf games are already a tiny little thing and you guys with the sims even tinier.

I'm trying to get a trackman based unit and working the boss over pretty hard... It'd be cool having one in the basement for sure.  I envy you guys.

my quote goes to " ...and would only please a few people...." ,sorry thats simply not true, i think in this game the majority plays real golf and is used to changing tee´s and pins, so its more the majority that would be pleased .

Clearly so. This game is supposed to represent golf but is still lacking some very basic parts of the game such as multiple tees and proper rules of golf.

My opinion is not one way or the other on this but.....

The few people of this forum that speak up for multiple pins/tees are not the majority. You thinking that majority would be pleased is also not true, especially if it meant no ghost balls. There would be a split of opinion.

I feel for the simulator folks on this topic though. I am a lowly Optishot2 user (although I have a decent set up) and I have two young daughters that play with me. The ability to play from shorter tees is crucial. When I upgrade to a launch monitor, TGC will not be a consideration if this isn't rectified. That and no range.

The simulator edition does have a few good ranges, including an "auto-rewind" setting so you can continually hit from the same spot.
