I was having intermittent crashes before, but today after about 7 or 8 attempts I still can't get the application to open - it crashes every time just before the main menu appears.  Files attached.

Hey RDH, are you playing on the 64-bit version?  This is the normal version from Steam.

Thanks for the quick reply!

It must be the 32 bit version as it's in Program Files (x86).  I just bought it through steam and don't recall it prompting for 32/64 bit at any point...maybe I missed something?

If you haven't changed it then you are on the 64-bit.  Try switching to the 32-bit version and see if you are able to continue into the main menu and then gameplay.  To switch, right click The Golf Club in your Steam library, choose Properties.  Select the 'Betas' tab, and then 32-bit from the dropdown menu there.  There will be a short download and then give it a try and let me know!

That did the trick - thanks Adam!  The game also went through its startup sequence much faster than usual, so this seems great.  Any reason that the 64 bit version might be giving me grief?  is there any tradeoff to sticking with the 32 bit version?

I assume you have an NVIDIA GPU?  We've had an issue on the 64-bit with some of the latest drivers from NVIDIA and we are working with them to figure it out and get a driver that will clear this up.  So the 32-bit version is a workaround right now and is working with the latest drivers.  Otherwise we have been recommending reverting to an older driver version but many people need the updated drivers for other games.  There is very little difference between the 64 and 32-bit versions.

Hi,

Just to say that this morning I appear to have exactly the same problem. I also have an Nvidea card. I have attached the crash report ini file - I assume that's the one you need? I'm just about to try the 32 bit fix. I would appreciate confirmation it's the same problem if you don't mind and I look forward to hearing when the 64 bit version fixed.
Thanks for your help.

The output_log would be better :), but with your Nvidia card it's more than likely the same issue.
