Ok, we are almost there.  We are hoping to get this out this week.  We have 3 things left to finish that are part of the planned U5 upgrade release.

1) Upgrade the Florida Glades Course to Unity 5
2) Fix a nasty bug in the stats reporting
3) Add Hard and Soft ground settings into the physics

Best Guess right now is a couple of days.  Here is a complete (mostly) recap of what is in it.

Improved Lighting and upgrading our Time of Day lighting system. The whole lighting and shader system in U5 is much more immersive and flexible so we have completed a revision of all the settings and data related to the Lighting, shaders and materials inside the game.  Much more dynamic and vibrant should please the folks who complained that it was lacking in contrast

Tree passthrough collisions with a random sound and effect on the ball in flight.   Each collision results in a random dorection and speed change

Integrated the wind into the trees more realistically so now the higher the wind, the more the trees will move. The cloud movement is also tied into the speed and direction of the wind

Integration of complete skid/slip and roll system into our physics engine bouncing.  This means that spin rate, vertical velocity and softness all determine whether a ball will skid on impact or whether friction with the surface will scrub all the spin off the ball and it will be rolling on impact with the ground. This leads to the ability to hit a much larger variety of shots with more realistic results.

Move to more simplified firmness setting with Soft Normal and Hard. See Above

New Pitch and Lob shot type options remove the need to continually adjust the loft of the shots manually and help to replicate the fine control that the pros display in this part of the game. In conjunction with the new ball and ground physics this allows us to replicate many of the shots you see on the PGA tour week in and week out such as the low pitch shot that grabs and spins itself out near the hole.  As a result we have adjusted the shot center to be for small adjustments only in loft, the old draw and fade setting remain unchanged.  The lob shot has an added difficulty to it in that missing the snap early will result in under hitting the shot and late will see it come out lower and faster than intended.

All new putting physics incorporating skid on leaving the putter which again adds to the reality of the putts. We also have fixed the high speed launch issue and have adjust the putting distance control to be more user controlled rather than having the distance to the hole 'preset' on the swingmeter. This will make judgement of diatnce much more difficult and to compensate we have reduced the direction penalty for missing the snap on putts.  There is a new camera for putting you can enable in the game settings UI which is lower to the ground and avoids the issue of the player covering the hole.

3 golf games....am I dreaming  !!!!!

Hmmm
I bought it, played it, didn't like it as much as TGC.  May be worth a revisit, but I doubt it will win me over.  Time will tell

Like TGC,Perfect golf is committed to improving the game regularly.

Bringing it onto consoles is a big plus.

Now we have 3 golf games to play.Just wish RM was coming onto PC  :(

Perfect Golf has a more diverse and distinctive look, particularly with the Unity 5 converted courses, but they will tax your PC harder to render the trees at detail levels and distances required to make them look realistic.  I think the game has potential, but until it has a real time, analog thumbstick swing control option (which I'm sure will eventually come), it's not going to have any long term appeal to me.

Yup, we have been approved by XBOX for development, we have our XDK and a console interface is being developed.  Hopefully Holidays 2015 but you know how deadlines come and go.....

Hopefully PS4 will follow

Cool!  That will hopefully help usher in the Perfect Golf thumbstick controller age  ;D

just tried the new build and hb have nothing to worry about...it's chronic! performance is god awful, chipping appears inconsistent, had two near identical chips that were poles apart in terms of result...i'm not getting the math and not feeling the love with it anymore...the performance is the main issue i have, forced to play on low settings which btw is ugly as sin and the difference from unity 4 is hardly massive... sound drops even more than it used to...those devs got a massive job to turn that around now...its very poor as it is.  :(

That is disconcerting DoGgz...I know it's in early access but didn't realise it was that bad.

The guys on the PG forums are raving about it....Are they deluded ?

they are very defensive about pg over there, loads of old timers of the 3 click brigade, don't get me wrong it has some good new additions, i love the pitch and flop and i do think the performance issue i experience detracts from my own experience, and my rig is not low spec, more medium...yet i'm not getting smooth gameplay at all, maybe once it gets optimised better i will appreciate it more, but until then i'm out.

Yes I hope it gets optimized better and keeps improving.

For us golfing nuts,we have suffered a long barren spell of decent golf games to play.

With 'The Golf Club' > 'Perfect Golf' and 'Rory Mcilroy' all out in more or less the same timeframe........there are reasons to be cheerful.

Ugly to me...     I've watched many videos just to see the progress and this game really just looks so last gen and boring to me.   I'm totally open to new golf games,  but I just can't see anything good in terms on how that game looks!

I was watching one round by Dogzthebullocks  (not sure how he spells it)   and I guess it was a new update and I couldn't believe how unrealistic the trees looks,  the game really does give off an almost old school PC vibe.. I guess that is the old links feel that so many people use to like..   I'll admit I've never played the links golf game,  and I might of liked it back in the day but perfect golf looks like Links from back in the day just a little bit better..  I'm sure with it's game modes and lobby,  it's got some things TGC doesn't have but I still can't get past the looks of it...

Obviously there is a crowd that loves it and that is awesome for them,   but man oh man it does nothing for this guy..

Please HB,  give us a way to share user created society templates of our tour course schedules.
