With the amazing job you've been doing and your willingness to release Proee versions, i'm happy to chip in friendbomber.  I'll PM you.

It would be good if HB started to provide some support on the cost side to acquire data to support designers...the value of the game is hugely enhanced by these quality RCR efforts.

Out of curiosity, what are you doing to block the ocean views, or will they be visible in the finished product?
I am making a Highlands course, that is supposed to be inland, but all the Highlands backdrops have at least one side that's coastline.
Since it's supposed to be an inland course, I'm putting in mountains on the ocean side, so you don't see the ocean ever, looks decent so far.
And it's not just the holes that face the coastline. It's when you get the backwards camera, or when you putt in that direction too.
Are you doing something to block the ocean views, or leaving them?

btw, your course looks AMAZING. Nice work so far. :)
Lots of versions due to refurbishments.
Play the ones exactly how they're listed here:

I had the same problem with the highlands theme when I was looking at using it.  The tree selection was great...but the ocean was a problem.  Even if you sculpted land to block it, it would be visible when using the follow cam for high shots.  I wish HB would look at options for the backdrops...they're limiting in a lot of cases currently.  The dream scenario would be a dynamically generated back drop...i.e. specify what you generally want (large body of water in the west, flat land in the north, cityscape in the east, mountains in the south) and it would generate it.  Now THAT would be slick!

Highlands has 1 with ocean on all 4 sides, but none completely enclosed, I don't get that.
But all the grasses/bushes + coniferous trees forced me to do Highlands.
My current WIP, the course I'm referring to, I put it as far away from the coastline side. From there, I have 300-500 yds, maybe even 700 yds (can't remember exactly, but it's a LOT of space) to make these mountains, and make them in waves, so the closest-to-the-course ones are shorter, and they get taller closer to the coast. So far in play-testing, you can't see the water. It's not ideal, but it's what I had to do to get the look I was going for.
If there were global plants/bushes/trees, I would've just made it a Boreal course.

I make a wall with trees and really larger bushes. I will also zoom down close the hole and do a 360 with camera, when I see a gap in the trees Ill go out that way and make another little wall to block the ocean, giving that filled in look.

That's an interesting way of doing it, and would work on a course with a lot of trees, like Sawgrass.
The course I'm making doesn't have a lot of trees, and I would have to make a wall of incredibly large/unrealistic bushes to pull it off.
The holes further away from the ocean pick up the ocean in the view too, so I'm using mountains that are over 140 ft high.
I still have a portion to put in, so I might try bushes first and see if it's too crazy or not.
Really wish Highlands had a backdrop w/no coastline.

I just played your version of Pebble Beach and I must say that one somehow slipped through the cracks for me my first play through. Wow is that course incredible. I can't wait to see what happens with Sawgrass!
