Thought we could start a thread where we can post our wants as it relates to the new multiplayer format.
1. Simultaneous Four ball- it takes way to long to play turn based play for this event.
I agree that something like simultaneous play needs to be done to speed four ball up. I would prefer to see an option that allowed each player to go to where their shot landed, begin sizing up their shot and selecting their club, aiming, etc., and then when it is their turn, according to the 'order of play' rules of golf, the game would highlight their name to indicate they're "up" and would then be
enabled at that point to execute their shot. You could see the telemetry of the other players shots from your perspective (where possible) or toggle the overhead map to track them during or after your shot preparation.
I think where this game loses a lot of time in pure turn-based play is it forces you to watch your opponent's shot setup and preparation from the start. In real life, you would have gone to where your own ball lies, even if your opponent was away, while they're sizing up, aiming, and playing their shot, while you're sizing up and preparing to play your shot.
Something like I'm suggesting should be an OPTION because I know there are people who don't mind or prefer the pure turn-based experience as it is... I'm just not one of them as it feels a bit phony to me and anytime I see my opponent play their shot, from their swing camera perspective. It compromises the notion that I'm watching the game play out purely from MY golfer's perspective.
2. Add Alternate Shot to the multiplayer experience.
Agreed, but if it's going to be pure turn-based perspective, at least show the action from your golfer's perspective when it's not your shot. Again, it compromises the player perspective aspect of the game which I find is critical to selling the "you are there" experience. When I watch other players play their shots from
their swing camera perspective, especially the players on other teams in four ball, best ball, or alternalte shot, I feel like I"m in the opposing team's huddle during a football game
