Daggerfen Manor 2016:

Theme: Highlands
Firm / Speed: Med / Med-Fast (162)
Notes: A lot of things came together here for Dale, and the result is a very good Highlands course, that should be fun for tournament play.
My favorite aspect of the course, which some may disagree on, is the greens. The have some severe slopes for sure, but they are smartly designed. Each green has a safe location where you can hit to and place your approach shots for the kind of putt that you would like. Hitting the wrong area of a green can send your shot bounding away from the hole, but you aren't forced to hit razor-thin landing areas or face insane recovery shots. Even better, the shaping of the greens combined with the lighting makes for some of the natural-looking greens.
The greens also blend very nicely with the terrain in general. The smooth, rolling hills is a great look, and the lighting only amplifies the effect of the hills.
Lastly, the holes are smartly designed to provide lots of choices off of the tee. You can choose risky lines, safe lines, and best misses all around the course.
During tourney play, there is room for some heroics, and also room for disaster on the water holes. This is a great effort, and should stick around for awhile.
