I would love that as a reference...my issue is how do it obtain the Links game and how do I run it on a Win7 machine?

I think you can download a copy of the game from this site
https://www.linkscountryclub.com/links-2003-golf-games

It says it will run with Windows 7 but I'm not sure if that disc would install properly with the game if you'd like it I could mail it to you otherwise I see it's available to download for only $2.99. Let me know what you think.

Excellent, for $6.99 (for the game) + $2.99 for OHCC it's worth a shot, the info for the greens at the very least could be invaluable to this project.

Thanks for your help, I owe you a pint!

UPDATE:  This is great, at the very least I can use this as reference for plotting tee to green elevations.  Not sure how accurate they are but they seem appropriate on first glance.  And the green info will be super helpful for determining overall break of the greens.

I finished the 6th this weekend, difficult hole to build out with the fairway shape and the nine bunkers present on this hole, plus I had some distance corrections to makeup for going east to west, and this was the hole to make the corrections on since they can be hidden in the waste area between 14 & the 6th.

The 14th was the easiest hole so far, with a relatively straight forward & simple fariway, the only on the course with no fw bunkers, and the green only had 3 somewhat simple bunkers, so I also finished this one up this morning.  Using FriendBomber's advise I'm not planting any more trees on any holes until all 18 are complete, so that also speeds things up.

I'll try to post some vids later today time permitting.  I'm to fire up Links and see what info I can use.

Royce, if you are going to grab Links, don't even mess with the disk. This is the latest and most up to date version of Oakland Hills, and it's a free download: http://linkscorner.org/courses/course.php?crz=1843&name=Oakland%20Hills%20South%202008%20-%20beta

Decent progress yesterday, including getting Links up & running thanks to Reppdogg's help and theclev coming through with an updated 2008 version, this will no doubt help when it comes time to greens & elevation.

I decided to completely redo the fairway on #1, since it was the first hole I laid out and my skills have progressed quite a but, one fairway was looking a bit jagged and out of place, so I ripped completely out and relaid it, looks much better now.  Also improved some of the bunkers on one.

I built the par 3 13th.  It was nice not having to deal with any fairway measuring but the bunkers were a challenge.  Weird little hole, no apparent bail out area/fairway, you are forced to navigate the bunkers which circle the green.  I will post a pic after I sort out how to capture on XB and upload/share from OneDrive.

Hole 13 pic:

And a more aerial view, messing around with some textures in a waste area.  If I change light rough to the brown it looks pretty good I think, but then I'd have to sacrifice all intermediate rough around fw & bunkers.  Would give it the US Open championship feel but I think courses look better with a framing of light rough.  Wish you could use green/fw/rough textures as one of the two custom one, then my problem would be solved.

Moving on to the par5 12th, measuring at 592.  I'm excited for the left fairway bunkers, there's 5 of them and they are large, with another 5 bunkers around the green.

To put the enormity of the size of these greens into perspective I decided to compare the 6th green to my suburban residential lot, just for comparison.  Shockingly not only could I fit my house on the green I could also nearly fit my front yard & most of my driveway.

No wonder it takes so much time to construct these greens.

Yet - that is like the average size of greens for fictional courses....

Looking good by the way! Keep going and pay attention to the breaks on those greens!

Here's a few quick pics from Hole 12.  Still need to do one massive green side bunker, but so far it's turning out pretty nice I think.  Needless to say it was extremely time consuming to build the intricate fw bunkers.

Finished the left green bunker on 12, took me 2 hours to complete, but I think it looks pretty good.  Here's a quick comparison to Google earth.

I'm also finally cutting the cord and erasing all of my measurement lines, it's too distracting to keep, and I now have enough reference points that I can use to triangulate the rest of the holes, so this will be my last vid with all the yellow.  I can use one of the no less than 86 bunkers I've made so far as reference points.....only 49 more to go.

(need to fix that waypoint on 12)

Probably moving on to the 16th next, last body of water to deal with and it's adjacent to the 12th that I just mapped out.  My project is moving along quicker than I expected, 12 holes down, 6 more to go.
