The Surf Pro ...surfing simulator
« on: April 04, 2016, 03:34:20 AM »
Its been like 14 years since Kelly Slater Pro Surfing came out and there has never been another real attempt at a proper surfing game. I wish a proper simulator with waves accurately generated could be done. With the advances in computers now we should be able to make a realistic exciting surfing simulator with proper water physics and HB probably could get it done in the same spirit as TGC.

..Imagine John talking us thru a session.... The waves are 6 to 8 feet and surface condition is glassy, watch out for Great Whites....

Just putting that out there since I did not see it mentioned so far. maybe keep the players and breaks generic so no fees to pay out...except for the "Kelly Slater Pro Surfing Break Creator" portion of the game...)
I know its not really going to happen but hey a guy can dream.

Awesome, thanks Yeltz, I was not aware of that one.. I hope the game looks like the screenshots they have posted because if it does look that good it could have a lot of potential!....I am a little wary as the video they have going looks like 10 years ago so we'll have to see if it's bait and switch on the graphics side. I knew my Surf Pro idea was a winner :)

Halfway through the video was enough for me , a bit like infinite air once the snow melts !

Thanks Yeltzman for keeping up on this  :)
The interface seems ok but in the end the wave simulation and timing are just not realistic.
I noticed the waves roll in way too fast and don't seem to build up like real sets coming in do. I simulated a slower speed by reducing playback speed on the video to 0.75 and IMO it looked much more realistic right away. Too bad they went for arcade style instead of simulator.

The water physics looks like from 10years ago, if they can make grass blades like in the recent grass demo I saw posted here somewhere than they should be able to make realistic waves and water. I refuse to believe thats the best they could do as far as water looking realistic.

I might actually consider picking up this one anyway as I am desperate for a new surfing game if they tweak it some.
Still far from what I envisioned for my Surf Pro simulator.
