It would be great if there were more yardage and elevation details on the overhead display, similar to good yardage books of courses. This can contain important yardages to hazards or carry distances etc. Or it can be interactive  giving you a yardage to where your cursor is or something.

Then, the scout cam can be more vague requiring you to study the hole a lot more than just relying on the game showing you where your shots will go.

Try hitting the "E" button. That will show a screen of the hole with an ll the distances and elevations. Not as handy as having it directly on screen, but it helps.
