Hello,

I have probably played 30-40 rounds and a buddy of mine has as well.  We play on Normal settings. 

Why are green speeds so ridiculously fast on this game?  Wedges drop a few paces onto the green, then rolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll off.   Even when settings say easy.  Some chips and putts are a nightmare.

Am I missing something?  Some are crazzzzzyyyy fast.  I like a challenge, I just find it consistently too fast.  Why is there not a setting, to change green speeds?  I hope this is coming on TGC2.

Unfortunately, to guard par, many designers choose firm greens and fast speeds.

Also, according to ADX321, the spin of the ball does not work realistically on theses settings.

Yea it does get a little crazy with the greens at times. It will take time to adjust. To learn you should start playing courses with medium greens. Then go to fast later on. Once you learn the putting it is very rewarding.

I have always liked a challenge on the other golf game.  Played a ton of "Tourney" speed.  It just seems that this should be dialed back somewhat on this game (maybe 20%).  I wish courses were published and then the users could select conditions.  Some pins are nuts at these speeds.

Well course selection is a big issue in this game. There are a ton of great real courses on the game. You can tell if they are good by the number of plays and the rating. There are a lot of tricked up courses out there to keep the scores down as said before.

It's HB's fault in a way,it tells you green speed on menu,but not firmness so its guess work when playing 1st couple of holes.If you playing a firm Course EG.Royal lytham 2016 if you got a mid iron give yourself 17-18 yards to land the ball for roll out,But if you try Loch lomond Can fire at pins.i have plugged 2 of my courses there but just giving you an example how to play them.

Firm Mid iron give your 17-18 yards to land ball

med conditions 7-8 yards

Soft conditions fire at pin...

Chipping on firm/fast greens no idea try not to chip.

But designers continuing to use the firm settings are somewhat to blame as well

I perfer Firm When done right and really only a links style course suits it in this game,im sure plenty will disagree but thats what i enjoy most,but if you search hard enough something for everyone.

I think adx would agree most good golfers prefer fast greens but the problem is holding the green from certain distance. Like a 7 iron from say 150 to 180 irl would hold most fast greens irl. The other issue is the big bounce you get off the fringe on the greens. I do prefer fast greens on this game but for a new player it could be a shock to the system.

I do hope we get more info on courses when we select them. That would help.

Not a bad golf game really considering it was a designer first with a golf game added,why i would have preferred a update on gameplay a year ago than a new game in next 6 months

when you think at certain times game was on sale for around £6-10 Great value for money,Even at full price on both consoles got my money's worth 10 times over,Brilliant game.

ADX, thanks for posting your favorite courses in your signature.  I am a new player to TGC and tried a few of those out last night.  I like those as well.  It was refreshing to see some of those NOT with "ice rink" green conditions.

I will NEVER make a course like that because I think a good shot should be rewarded not bounce over the green and make it a flop contest

I really hope HB learns that mid-short irons spin the ball with TGC2   The funny thing is you can hit a 3 iron higher in TGC1 than anyone has ever hit a 3 iron but an 8 iron bounces off greens when firm is chosen.
