I've been having a problem. When the game starts it will be in 640X480 mode. I now run in 1920x1080 and when this happens, quite often, I close it and then right click the icon and presss F8 while clicking open. This brings up the game configuration screen. This is all very well and good, but it shouldn't be this way. I know it's probably a bug, but I've actually written a program that will change the relevant registry entries to their proper values. I'd like to share this, but the problem I'm having is the registry values seem to be semi randomized. Below are the entries I'm talking about.

Code: [Select]
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HB Studios Multimedia Ltd.\The Golf Club\Screenmanager Is Fullscreen mode_h3981298716 "should be 1 for fullscreen and 0 for windowed"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HB Studios Multimedia Ltd.\The Golf Club\Screenmanager Resolution Height_h2627697771
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\HB Studios Multimedia Ltd.\The Golf Club\Screenmanager Resolution Width_h182942802

It's the numbers after the H. Were I to share my program it likely wouldn't work for others because they probably have a different h value. Anyone know what these numbers signify? I thought it might be the steam user number, but all 3 have different values.

go to library in steam and right click on the tgc name, choose launch options, set the resolution

Right clicking on Play game in Steam does nothing. Left clicking on play game brings up a window with "Play The Golf Club" and "Launch options". But I have to do it every day when I start the first round. It seems like it won't retain the settings once steam has been closed down and the icon calls up steam before running the game. I don't have steam called up with windows start as some days I don't play the game.

If you launch the game through Launch Options and then close it down normally after you have finished playing it should keep the settings you have set it to the next time you boot it up. I am the same as you in that I don't have steam boot up with windows but when i start TGC from a desktop icon (with or without steam already running) it always starts with the settings i inputted into Lauch Options originally.

That's good for you. Don't know why it's defaulting to 640X480 for me. But it is.

My registry has exactly the same keys in it, including the exact same 'random' numbers after the h. Interestingly perhaps, the same key names also exist for the game "Golf with Friends" and "Perfect Golf", so they are not specific to TGC.  :D

In your program that changes the registry values, ensure the height (1080) is written to the proper registry key; same for the width (1920).  Are they perhaps reversed given the usual way of saying the resolution is 1920x1080p?  That could cause an issue where the reversed resolution (1080x1920) is not possible with your monitor, and the game defaults back to a base resolution that works, such as 640x480.

Check the results of your program before you start the game and see if they match the values that you expect to use for the resolution.

Hmmm. Maybe those are numbers that are global for everyone. And no,  my program writes the height to the height entry and width to the width entry. I've never had a problem with my program, just the game when launching from Steam (without using my program).

That resolution change I find is the odd time after a steam update  - not each time but often enough. I  click on the steam icon  - click on TGC game and click on launch game and it gives you what resolution and change it there and boom its back to proper resolution - its a pest but a simple fix.  Works for me!   :)
