Right now most teeboxes are so small and the markers placed so narrowly I don't see how this would really be beneficial. I like the idea but the entire tee mechanism would need changed.
I politely disagree with integrity, plenty of courses have expansive tee boxes which would benefit from the strategy of position (assuming the markers are appropriately placed). Hole 1 at North course for example, look at the size of those tee boxes! Seems like it would provide more flexibility in course design.

Going even further, I'd love to see the ability to play user selected tees in matchplay where the winner of the prior hole selects which tee is played for the current hole.
i'm aware of large teeboxes but it's rare the acceptable teeing ground is anything close to that large. But I'm talking about in the game... the tee markers are about 5 feet apart so unless they move considerably farther apart moving isn't going to be very effective.
We could do this in PGA Championship golf if I recall. It was rare anyone really used it from what I remember.
