O.k the first hole  is listed on the scorecard at 540 yard par 4 but on the PGA Championship website they have it 524 yards still a monster hole to start off with, the only thing helping is your approach shot is  27 yards down but the green slopes back to front for the first half of the green then slopes front to back because of the mound in the middle and it slopes left to right also. The second hole is a 452 yard par 4 that goes uphill 25 ft and has a severe left to right slope in the landing area, so your gonna want to aim your tee shot on the left hand part of the fairway to risk the ball rolling into the heavy rough !! and yes there will be no light rough this being a major i wanted to add some punishment for missed tee shots plus when reading and watching the play through he basically described the course this way anyways

Looking super mate, love seeing these type of in progress pics, really shows the amount of effort and detail that goes into making a proper & accurate RCR! Love the sculpting work you've done, extremely smooth and natural looking yet very severe. This is going to be a great one I feel.

this course has alot of elevation changes and slopes i didnt know that nothing like augusta but it has 76 ft in elevation and  all but a couple have heavy sloping i just roughed in 3,4,5,6,7 just now, i dont know how you do it but i get the tee to green elevation first then i go back and do the slopes , then i add in all the bunkers in then all my greens  and shes ready for planting of course all retaining walls first then trees and mulch then grass plants and flowers the clubhouse is always last for me with any luck i should have this one all sculpted by the end of next week im hoping

I draw out the entire course on a flat plot using Google Earth Pro and triangulating the back of each tee and front center of each green, creating a straight line and then use 90° angles to locator fw, bunkers & greens and draw them out with the distance tool.  Then I lay all of the textures so I have a full 18 holes laid out on a completely flat plot (you can play my flat augusta and flat pine valley, sort of eerie see experience flat lol).

From that point I find the low & high points of the course and start to get a rough elevation of each tee, fw landing point & green.  Once that is complete for all 18 I then go back and smooth everything out and dial in the elevations the best I can (once tee, fw & green are elevated the rest comes together pretty intuitively I find).  It helps me to hand sketch each hole on a sheet of paper and jot down the elevations at key points then translate them into the course designer.....

example of the 13th at Oakland Hills.......

yeah royce i use blue golf for the layout i measure at a 90 degree angle off the the way points then hand draw it in in and use google for elevation and sculpting , when it comes to planting i use everything i can find google blue golf you tube websites , i always start from the highest point and sculpt down to the lowest point but thats on courses with a lot of elevation this course her i was able to start from the first hole because it was only 6 feet from the highest point

ok hole 3 is a straight away hole a long par 4 at 483 yards with a 2 tier front to back green this hole will play very difficult with a strong head wind , hole 4 may be the toughest on the the course its a 184 yard par 3 with a heavily sloped front to back green and has slope left to right , going to be tough to hold this green to have to land your ball with 3 to 4 yard s off the front of the green to have a chance and its guarded by 3 front side green bunkers

hole 5 is a 449 yard par 4 the fairway slopes heavily down and to the left then rises 16 ft so depending on the wind this hole can play short and long if you reach the top of the ridge you have a nice 8 or 9 iron into the green , now the green does slope front to back slightly and slightly left to right and theres a bunker guarding the front of the green great chance of birdie on this hole ..
hole 6 is the longest par 3 on the course it comes in at 249 yards and is a down hill approach and has a lot of room to work the ball , but the green is heavily slope back to front and slightly left to right so this has the potential for some nasty side hill putts and you dont want to run past the pin  or you will be faced with  a very fast down hill put ton these 187 greens

hole 7 is a 546 yard downhill par 5 and reachable in 2 shots depending on wind  this is probably the most recognizable hole on the course because of all the mansion running alongside the entire right side and directly behind the greens and the stream that runs the entire hole also really adds to the beaty to this hole and this has a 2 tiered green which slopes toward the water this is probably your best chance of birdie on the front side of this course
