A real issue I had with tgc1 is that you could not play 2 players on 1 xbox and use both profiles. One player had to be 'guest'. Has that been addressed in TGC2

TIA?

I don't believe you can add a second Xbox live profile locally.  I recall it was mentioned in one of their broadcasts.

I haven't tried it as add player adds other golfers playing, guests locally, but the active profile is locked to one person in the UI

You can fully customize the added local golfer

Yes! Agreed! I love TGC but this drives me. My friends come over and we play, and the first thing we have to decide is, who's profile, who might get to break a record, who will get their stats recorded, who will register a play on a course, Who has to change their name and clothes an handedness etc... Every single time.

It's mind boggling (or mind bottling if you prefer, like "when your thoughts get all trapped up like in a bottle"). It's a sports game. How can you not have multiple profiles in a sports game? The very nature of sports is competition. To make a sports game without local competition in mind is both mind boggling, and mind bottling!

We're not a world of loners. We have friends. We get together. Even in 2017.

Totally agree.  I also want to be able to play with my mates locally with fully supported profiles for each player, and add online players to the game.  You can do this in Rocket League for example - fully supported local and internet play in a single match.

HB, Will this be addressed in TGC2?

Guys and ladies, they mentioned this on the next to last stream a week ago.
Consider the game requires an active profile which is sharing cloud data in real time....by design, it would take a lot of redesigning to work with more than one profile...if that's even possible

Well this very issue was brought up time after time, by myself and others, back when tgc 1 released. So IMO to still not have it in this iteration is inexcusable. For me it's NO SALE.

Thanks for responding Smurf and everyone. Maybe I'll come ask again if TGC  3 is released. As for HB Studios...  :-X

Can you play other games with 2 or more live profiles and both accumulate stats?

Exactly. Most of the time No
It's mainly just sports games but other than achievements, no progress

I complained in TGC1 but now it's not xbox360 perspectives it's more of PC and Xbox one perspective

I don't think ppl would like it if added cause it would mean other things would need to be disabled. IMO for fair competition.

"Exactly. Most of the time No" - I think you just contradicted your intended argument.

Most of the time, no, means yes you can have two profiles live at the same time. So they should be able to do it. In fact, your statement suggests that they are able to do it.

Not sure why anyone would argue against changing a game in a way that makes it better, for more people. I've heard no convincing argument yet.

My question was more to can it be done?

If other games are not doing it , what makes you think HBS can?

Sorry if my comment was unclear, but it's suggesting that "most of the time, No" means in most online cloud based games, you can't use multiple active profiles simultaneously.

I actually don't believe having two active profiles would make this game better.  Here's why:

-Consider games allowing multiple profiles to play simultaneously in a season online and or local season not online. None offer course customization in a cloud space shared on three platforms.

(Locally there are games like Madden, or FIFA but it comes with other limitations.  Typically it's one profile at a time because you need all the other online functions and features.

 (So if it were added....possibly)

-You still would have to be online and all profiles would need Xbox live gold and join the same online society and same event from start to finish and not allow you to stop in progress.

-Local career play is limited to one profile not multiples, so this right here is the obvious reason why it doesn't make sense to add it if it's going to be limited.

-save data is game specific + profile specific so we would be asking them to make save data profile specific and have another game specific save data that both have to exist in the cloud and always upload to clear save data error but if someone goes offline and doesn't upload, the other players progress is now out of sync.  Do you just delete it or what?

-It would further complicate trying to add real players as there would have to be access to 4 different friends lists simultaneously

-It would put a huge strain on the local console trying to pull and push all that data to their server and Xbox live

-Technically speaking, it wouldn't make sense for someone else to be able to add you to their session live outside of online society gameplay, because you're already playing with a two-some, three-some or four-some.

It can be done but it always has limits.
Meaning if we play X game, with 2 or 4 actual profiles, it may mean only PLAY is an option.

In my personal experiences, no game allows
Multiple profiles simultaneously for Career modes.

I can argue that Online Society could offer this but, in those cases for other games, there is no start ...stop and resume later.   You have to start and fully finish not just the round but the whole tournament and that isn't "better" in my opinion compared to what's offered in this game modes.

Again....it's possible but in limited situations.
I think HBS looked at this in TGC and TGC2 but consider PC and Steam wouldn't do it so from a development standpoint, why offer it for consoles only with limitations per console platform.

Golf is turn based. If they can do it in Madden, when you're playing simultaneously, it should be easy to do in golf. I hit, save is made... next person hits, different save is made. Not sure why that is so complicated. All this talk about negative effects, again, if other games can do it, don't see how arguments against local multiplayer with multiple profiles have much, if any, validity. Arguments against seem to be based on speculation that has been proven by other games to be inaccurate.

I think your missing it.

Madden isn't online always, it's just customized simulation with everyone using the same data.

No EA game is comparable....literally there is no other sports game on current gen consoles that's anyway close.

So, yeah HBS could offer "PLAY local" but what good is that if it excludes meaningful individual profile progression?

On Xbox, you have to have Xbox live gold to play anything other than the official courses, Online Societies, add live player, add real player ghosts.

This means only in cases where gold is shared would some functions be available, but if the specific user doesn't have gold, they can't do anything outside of that console.....therefore it becomes a pointless feature in terms of meaningful gameplay and in cases, prevents the gold user from progressing until the non-gold user comes back over.

This means most tournaments would expire

The point, I think, people are missing is that I (at least) would like to play with my friends on the sofa using our own profiles.

Yes we can set up guest profiles and save them, but I bet you can't adjust handicap. Nor browse your mates stats to see who has the longest drive etc etc.

And can you name them? Or are we limited to one guest save, or maybe guest1 guest2 etc.

Neither is acceptable IMHO.

I have friends over and we play madden. We have a franchise set up that is only played when they are over. We play TW (sorry the other EA one) with our own profiles.

We play Forza, and many other games that use our own profiles yet save stats etc. to that profile.

Why can't we set up an offline society for this very purpose? This should have been implemented as many people from TGC1 wanted this.
