Probably over-looking something obvious, but how do you leave a society? And delete a user created one? Or is that not possible.

Once you have created a society you are not able to delete it.

I think it was mentioned in a stream, I believe it is due to people potentially paying credits to enter a society, which would then make it difficult to close it. I guess there is the potential for exploits.

But you can't delete a career society either! And that doesn't have the issues you mention.

I bought the DLC which gave you money. But I spent it unwisely and would dearly love to start all over again. I haven't joined any online societies yet, so no reason why I shouldn't be able to...but I can't.

Bad habit of mine. i generally play a new game for a few hours to get the hang of it, then delete save and start from scratch. Can't do that with this game :(

If I'd known I would have thought about what I was gonna spend the money on..... :)

Wait so if you join 5 societies and they all die out due to lack of interest, or the society goes down the drain for some other reason... you're stuck?

You can leave societies you joined any time, you cannot leave the society you created as you are it's founder. With the society you create, you can constantly edit almost every element of it, even the name for example.

Anybody know the answer to:
If there was a joining fee is it refunded should you decide to leave?

Okay but doesn't my own society count towards the 5 count limit? IMO I wish there wasn't a limit.
