Well
Apparently I need a lot of practice. I don't belong in the same stratosphere as you other golfers in this league. Just shot 2 rounds at Baltusrol this morning. A 95 and a 98 are extremely embarrassing to say the least. I love this game and these original courses are a real treat to play, so I hate to quite playing. it's just really embarrassing.
My main problem is keeping my tee shots in the fairways. I either slice or fade ever single tee shot and end up in a hazard or deep rough. Pretty hard to score birdies and even pars when your second shot is always from the rough. Any suggestions on hitting my drives straight, other than a lot of practice?
Thanks for being patient with me
Hey sorry meant to come back to this earlier and forgot. For me its all about finding the most suitable club selection first, theres Tour, Player & Standard. For me I started with Player as I wasnt playing enough so it was easy pick it up after a while of not playing and be reasonably ok.
From there I would just go to the Driving range before your rounds and keep hitting shots while trying to find your swing. So for me to hit it straighter I use the right side of the touch pad on the PS4 controller as a line to pull the analog back straight. Its not perfect, but its a pretty good gauge.
Realistically there is a number of ways to play the game, each person will have a different way. Some will try to hit straight, some will try to perfect draw and fade shots, best advice I can give is to use the driving range before your rounds and get comfortable with your swing method and tempo.
To improve overall scores, my advice there would be to pick 3 shots from scoring clubs (7-iron to Lob Wedge) and try to perfect them in order to either help you maximise the amount of birdie opportunities you get or to bail you out when things aren't going so great. My 3 shots are -
45 pitch with a LW
125-135 full shot with a PW
Bunker shot with a LW
Thankfully i find myself to be reasonably good at all other shots but these are shots that I find myself guaranteed to hit multiple times each round.
