Listen up HB,  a harder mode is exactly what this game needs.  Make a par round something to be proud of.

you can always make little gameplay adjustments along the way to help the game but, adding this hardcore mode would invigorate an entirely different group of players.   just read the pp forums where there are those that state the game is too easy on tour.   im sure there are many other players out there that would really enjoy more challenge and,  I would love to see a setting where par becomes a challenge and birdie is a real feeling of accomplishment. (similar to real life golf. )
I'm not saying at all that the game is bad with the settings it currently has but,  all sports games currently have a setting like this for covering this type of player interest.   in my opinion i wouldn't worry about  complainers who don't want it in the game.  it would be an option as it is in every other sports game.  eeverybody likes different settings.

Par is not really a challenge on most holes in real golf for accomplished players. But the gap between the difficulty to get a par and a birdie needs to be a lot wider, I agree.

I would love a sim mode with no zoom ,hard swing etc but the game would need new camera angles plus better graphics to read the greens, and more info on yardage to hazards. plus the most frustrating thing about this game is it all depends on how your controller reacts to the game.i have 3 now best by far is my elite.but if I play lots in a day even that gets a little lose.plus it should be the same experience on each console or pc.the swing is easier on PlayStation.i have to admit i am going by what people have said &looking at tgc leader boards.so without playing myself maybe I shouldn't judge.tgc 2 is still my favourite game I have

I just want the game to give me the thought process of a PGA Tour Pros. Currently, it’s close but not quite there yet. It currently gives me the thought process of PGA Tour Pros on Cocaine. Miss in the rough right of the green that slopes right to left? No worries I’ll just chip/flop it back to the hole, easy peasy, barring the chip glitch.

Just to add to this 'Hardcore Mode' (I'd prefer to call it Tour mode as it would play as tough as real life tour players) discussion....

Here is the PGA Tour players' average  distance and accuracy off the tee for the 2016/17 season...

and here is the averages for players with over 200 tee shots in the PS4 Society - 'TGCTours (True Sim Tour)'

Some observations...

(57 Players with over 200 tee shots)
DRIVE DISTANCE (Best): 298.1 (blueorfe)
DRIVE DISTANCE (Worst): 276.0 (GreyOsprey)
DRIVE DISTANCE (Average): 290.4
FAIRWAYS HIT (Best): 88.68% (OrangeHokie2)
FAIRWAYS HIT (Worst): 59.41% (aldiablo8060)
FAIRWAYS HIT (Average): 75.50%

Compared with PGA Tour 2016/17 (190 Players)
DRIVE DISTANCE (Best): 309.9 (McIlroy)
DRIVE DISTANCE (Worst): 267.6 (Furyk)
DRIVE DISTANCE (Average): 285.2
FAIRWAYS HIT (Best): 72.73% (Armour)
FAIRWAYS HIT (Worst): 45.37% (Bowditch)
FAIRWAYS HIT (Average): 60.61%

The longest hitter Rory McIlroy averages 309.9 yards and 55% of fairways. The True Sim Society's longest hitter averages 298.1 yards and 86% of fairways. Just saying....

These are my stats so far for this weeks tournament, first round was players clubs, second round was standards and the third round were with the tour clubs. With anything other than standard clubs I couldn’t hit a cows arse with a banjo right now.
I don’t know where my swing has gone Im missing fairways left and right which is one of the worst scenario’s for a golfer because your never sure what the ball has done, my putting’s not to bad for me though.

Les,

Here is some coaching on my swing when it goes to crap....

Focus on the apex of the backswing and transition to the downswing. If you nail that properly, it is magical in the results.

You do not wait for the backswing to reach its highest point. You begin the downswing just a millisecond before the backswing gets to its final height.

Hope that begins to help you. I know full well how frustrating it is to lose your swing. Happens to me all the time.

The instructions above are what brings my swing back in line.

Thanks Divot but I’ve tried all those tips, my problem is I’m not just missing on one side that is something I can cope with, I’m getting the tempo pretty well perfect/perfect or slow/perfect which doesn’t do much damage but I just can’t keep it in the cone mostly left but get a few each round outside the right. It’s a new controller that came with my Xbox one X and I have an Elite controller as well that I have tried.
I appreciate everyone’s help but I think it’s probably something I need to work out for myself.

Do you use your thumb only or do you pinch the stick (thumb and forefinger)?  I pinch the sticks and after experimenting quite a bit I've found that having my forefinger at 12 o'clock and my thumb closer to 7 o'clock and then holding the controller a certain angle allows me to have good success with hitting the ball straight.

So if you're having issues staying straight with your path be sure to play around with finger placement and the angle that you hold the controller.

Doing what I suggested helps me keep it in the cone. One thing you may be doing is putting too much pressure on the stick. A light touch is preferable to a heavier one.

I support this.  But it's not just the swing - you have to get rid of the dial-a-distance loft grid too.

IF they patch this version..these two things would make it awesome...chipping fix and nixing loft box!

Yep.  I play all my rounds without touching the loft meter.  The game is super enjoyable (and highly playable) by forcing yourself to control your backswing for distance instead of using the dial-a-distance loft crutch.  The shot outcomes and variability are much more realistic.  It also puts more pressure on the player to execute a good shot when you're concerned about distance, swing path, and swing tempo.  It's baffling to me that the game wasn't designed this way in the first place.

Just had Xbox and PC stats sent to me so I can add those into the graph in the near future.

Les, according to the Xbox society, you are averaging 73% and 283 yards off the tee. Pretty good going pal.

If your confidence has gone I suggest using standard clubs for a week or two before jumping back into players. However, 283 yards and 73% is very very good going.
