I'll try my best to explain the issue.  A friend of mine bought the game a few months ago.  His name is Jim.  Everything worked as expected until about two weeks ago.  I will be referring to "we" along the way because several of us friends all see the exact same things with Jim now.  When Jim logs into his Steam and when Jim opens his TGC2 game we all see the correct notifications for his activities.  We all see Jim listed as "Online" inside our games when we check in game friends lists.  Up until now everything is working as expected for all involved.

Now it starts getting strange.  If Jim jumps on any course and begins playing a round none of us ever get the notification pop up window form his beginning a round.  Furthermore, when we check our in game friends list now, Jim should show his status as "Playing" because he is on a course and even hit a couple balls already but he never does anymore.  For all of us Jim still shows his status as "Online".  That's why none of us can join his course or received the notification that he started a round because he never switches now to "Playing".  We can manually jump on the same course he is playing but none of us can ever see him nor can any of us "add him to group" because he doesn't show on our list of rivals because he is listed as only "Online" and not "Playing".

As for what Jim sees...the entire time Jim sees everything as expected.  He sees all of us start rounds and can "hold Tab to join" us.  He see all us in his rival lists and can add us correctly.  He sees us on the course and watches all our shots!  Everything is normal and working correctly for him.  None of us ever see Jim anymore because he never leaves the status of "Online" for us.  Keep in mind, this started just a couple weeks ago.

What we have done trying to correct this?  Jim has uninstalled Steam completely several times.  We uninstalled his Steam through Windows control panel "Add and Remove" and we followed Valves instructions on "How to completely uninstall Steam and all it's contents manually" a couple times.  No leftover files, folders or registry entries remained as far as we know that is.  Jim then re downloaded and installed brand new Steam and TGC2  several times.  Every time for results been the same!  None of us see him leave the in game status of "Online".

I'm not sure if this is relevant or not but I have tried every thing I can think of as a possible cause of this behavior.  We have set his computers default browser to Edge and Opera.  I have suggested for him to try Internet Explorer and Chrome but I don't think he's tried them yet.

I had Jim log into his Steam using my account and I logged into my Steam using his account.  Nothing changed.  I was now Jimjamms and he was now Hugh Jass Koda but the issue remained.  I saw him as "Online" and he saw me on the course and watched my shots.

What more can we do?  By the way, all the rest of us have no trouble.  We all see everything properly with all the rest of our friends in game.  We all only have the same problem with only Jim!

The last thing I can mention that to me, seems suspicious is every time we uninstalled his Steam completely, when he reinstalled the game his old character settings were automatically there.  His tour clubs, custom club selections, his appearance and his clothes were already there.  He didn't need to set it all up again.  Are previous character settings files held on HB servers or where am I missing?  I sure would like to Delete even that too as I am out of ideas!!!

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this please give me a shout.

Hey Dan, just wondering if Jim is set to Private in the game itself. This is found under settings/social  make sure set to Public.  If it is set on Private then that is probably why not seeing notifications of him starting a game up.

As far as uninstalling and reinstalling Steam, and having all his clubs and clothing and all that stuff back it never left because it is not saved in Steam but in Windows  under *Users*
Web browers have nothing to do with this at all.

If he wants to delete his profile and start all over again he will have to go to C:\Users\His user name\AppData\LocalLow\HB Studios Multimedia Ltd_\The Golf Club 2\Common under Common you will find  profile.data file which is his user in golf2.  He can delete that file  and then restart the game it will create a new profile.  He will have to go through all his settings  and reset his preferences.

**he will have to make sure to Show all Hidden files* in order to see the folder AppData

Nope, he's Public.  We have poured through every setting in game and all through Steam.  Everything is fine.  Steam and all his games have been uninstalled and reinstalled several times too which sets everything at their default settings then.  Even so we double and triple checked EVERYTHING after reinstalling each time.  Nothing has ever been found to be set incorrectly.

Thanks Carol, I forgot about the "HB Studios Multimedia Ltd_" folder.  We have deleted the "Steam" folder in AppData/Local every time but I completely forgot the "HB Studios Multimedia Ltd_" folder.  I'm feeling confident in an uninstall of TGC2 anything left behind and that folder then a reinstall will be the fix!  Thanks for reminding me of that folder!  How I forgot it is beyond me!  Our custom courses from the designer are in there!  Doh!

One thing we noticed last night that may or may not be related to his issue that you may be able to shed a little light on.  Not expecting anything to change but I suggested we try playing a society event and see if by some miracle we could see Jim in there.  When we Jim enters the Online Societies lobby his Inglorious Bastards banner says Banned on it.  Somewhere it says "Banned by an admin" for him.  I know you or Charlie wouldn't ban him, on purpose anyway, but we noticed that last night.  I'm not sure what the deal is with that.  I think it's an incorrect notification he's seeing or something because he is still on the members list and he has a "Leave Society" button too so I don't know.  Hell I don't know what to think about this one.  Related to his issue or not I'm not sure.

One more little nugget I have noticed that might be worth throwing out there.  In game, when we click Jim's name then "View Golfer Info" then "View Golfer" we all see his golfer as he was way back when he first started playing.  He shows using the Standard clubs and wearing the orange shirt and orange hat like he did way back then.  Jim has been using the Tour clubs for several weeks now and has changed out of those orange clothes long ago.  This is the only way anyone can see him and we are being shown his golfer from months ago.  Jim has confirmed that he is using his updated character and wearing different clothes and using Tour clubs.  He hasn't used his "orange" guy in months.

Anyway, there is something terribly wrong!  Uninstalling Steam and all it's contents a few different times now AND using Steams instructions to manually uninstall Steam and all it's contents and the issue is not fixed!!!  HB....where are you?  We could use your help!!!

Update:  Jim completely uninstalled his game again.  Deleted all leftover items found like the TGC2 foldoer in SteamApps\Common and the TGC2 folder in AppData\Local_Low\HB_Studios.... as discussed above.  Reinstalled the game again (Steam was also installed brand new last night) but the problem is still there!

No one can see Jim playing because his status in the game never shows him as "Playing"!  He always says "Online".  He can see everyone playing but no one can see him because no one ever sees his status as "Playing"!

This is very frustrating!  Everything was fine until 2 weeks ago!  He is formatting his hard drive now because that is LITERALLY the only thing left that we haven't already done!

Still no help from anyone at HBS either!

Ya I would never ban Jim since we all play together lol!!  I double checked to be sure and of course he is not banned so that is really strange.  I really don't thing uninstalling and reinstalling steam has anything to do with this, just my opinion. But the more you do the uninstalling the more redundant files you are leaving behind in registry etc. and basically need to reg clean via CC Cleaner or another good registry cleaning program.  Also be sure he has verified all his files in the game via steam.

HB needs to get involved so that Jim can send files to them so they can take a look at what is going on from the inside.   If you have Deleted his profile.data file as suggested when he starts up the game anew, it should create a new player file,  this  basically  reverts everything back to DEFAULT.
