Been a lot said about chipping in the game and rightly so.

I have been taking a ton of practice shots on my practice course and I have found that using a partial swing to chip gives me more realistic movement of the ball upon landing on the green.

Has anybody else that uses partial shots found it to be a different result from a full swing and using the loft box even?

I also find the ball reacts differently when using the flop shot and partial swing. Which is something I loved in the Links series. I used 3/4 shots all the time, guaranteed it was 3 click and a lot easier to hit 3/4 but I'm getting there with TGC 2.

Oh yeah, I use a mouse and the odd thing, I can pull back slower which allows me to get a good partial shot and push forward at whatever speed and almost always get a perfect perfect result.

Once I get this down using my mouse, I may try with a controller to see the difference.

Totally agree with you about using partial swings on Chips and Flops. My biggest problem is consistent swings using my controller. I chip using every iron from 6 to GW if the approach is hazard free within 40 yards. Just when I think I've got my swing right, I blade one across the green or only sent it a few feet with an abrupt stroke. I'm hoping TGC19 will help correct somethings with these strokes

Good to hear that a controller works, some of the time.

Isn't that what some want though, an inconsistency therefore making it harder?

I get a good consistency, the biggest hurdle is timing the backswing for distance.

I'm with you on having the inconsistency of my swing. Just like in real life you never hit the ball the same way every time. That is what makes the game fun for me. I don't want my swing to be robotic.

I always use a partial swing when chipping but the chipping physics are so poor that it's impossible to know if your ball will run out or just pull up. It's the most frustrating part of TGC2 and I don't understand why the devs haven't corrected it.

They haven't corrected it because they cannot push out any client updates as their agreement with the game publisher ended.  So, it is what it is in this game.

Reportedly, this has been corrected in TGC2019 which is due out by the end of this month.
