Does the speed of the white markers on the greens gridlines have any significance in relation speed, slope etc. ?

Yes, the faster moving they are, the steeper the slope.

I've seen what appears to be fairly flat grid lines yet the beads are rocketing across.  Also grid lines with quite a drop (from left to right for example) yet the beads are hardly moving.  A little confusing..

Don't ask why, but if the grid lines are meeting(as in two slopes coming together to form a valley) if its in the line of boxes or to either side one row  of your putt line ,then the beads will be false on their speed...go visual for your read

Is there an easy way to toggle green grids on/off?  I love the look of hitting into a green, and chipping around a green with no grid lines.  Putting however, is impossible for me without the grid.

Not without going into Settings and disabling/enabling.

Too bad they don't have one of the buttons triggered to turn grids ON and OFF or say turn them on for a "user time value" then fade out. All the little things that seem to add to a great game are missing as everything seems to have a $ cost vs $ return thought process behind it.

"Putting only" might be an interesting Green Grid display option.  I'd use it.
