HB,

The handicap system as deployed in the game does not yield good results.

I really like that you have implemented the real slope system in game - but the implementation has one fatal flaw.

That flaw is that you are still using the 113 "average rating" in the formula to calculate the handicap differential, but you cannot employ the same course rating methods as used IRL.

IRL a course is judged on a number of factors and if it is "average" the slope will end up around 113. In the game, you use plays of the course to determine slope. This means that your "average" is a lot less than 113 in almost all cases. An improved formula would be to use the average slope rating of all courses instead of the "113" in the calculation.

That way handicaps would at least be more in line than they are right now - where shooting a 65 on a course normally yields a handicap differential of of more than +10...

How about making it better suited to the video game environment?

An alternative is to employ community members or employed staff to actually rate courses according to a similar method as in real life, but that seems to be a less feasible improvement?

Also should only count back tees i reckon as well,no idea how the HCP works, but i have noticed when i check some of the scores on my courses 30-40% play front tees,no idea if thats because they don't know how to change tees, poor at game or just like to score, but i think back tees would help also.

Got to be honest it's a video game no need for HCP mode to be in there, one of AK few mistakes.

Yeah, the slope rating is for a certain set of tees. Hole distance has a huge weight in the assessment of a course.

Don’t really get how they passed this broken implementation as viable without any further modifications.

Yep. So broken it’s not even funny.

Use back tees only or have a different course/slope rating for each tees.

Only thing that can be done is to as a designer not use multiple tees of different difficulty on a course. That is why I only have one set on Baltusrol, as an example.

Slope rating needs fixing HB. I always try and use the back tees to get a proper handicap. Just played the blues instead of the back tees at Copperhead by mistake. Hit a 63 (tst style with putting marker only - #nosweeping 😜) and it made my handicap jump up to +6.7 from +5.0. If I played the back tees I probably would have shot a 65/66 and remained a similar handicap. Sort it out HB!

Each tee to have an individual slope rating please. Much love x

HB,

My biggest issue with the handicapping, like others have touched on, is that there should be a different stroke index/ slope rating for each set of tees on a course, and not just one for all of them, which doesn't make any sense. It's not fair to calculate players handicaps with the same, "one size fits all" stroke index/ slope rating regardless of whether you're playing from the shortest tees, longest tees, or anything in between.

Real courses have a different stroke index/ slope rating for each of the tees listed on the score card. So why isn't it like that for this game? It should be.

I also think there should be seperate course leaderboards (the ones for all rounds, not just tournament) and stats for the different tees. It's not fair to compare rounds played from different tees.

Thank you!
