I couldn't find any other comments on this, so apologies if it's been covered.
So it turns out that under hitting clubs actually makes the ball fly farther?
This has to be a bug with the code, why else would that happen?
I thought that it was strange when I was between clubs on a par three, so I decided to try a 90% swing with the 3 hybrid (which carries 232 yards) to take off some yards. To my amazement, the ball flew 249 yards into a 7mph wind over the green?
Ever since then I've actually used that shot to gain yards with clubs when the green is out of reach otherwise, this isn't right at all. How can not completing your back swing make the ball fly farther?
Under swinging the club to knock down a shot is a tactic that I really like to use, and is a great part of any golf game; in its current state it is impossible to do this in TGC 2019: so we are forced to use the loft bar to control distances.
I'm really enjoying the new game and think that it's a huge improvement on TGC2, except for this weirdness.
Here's an example
