Am I missing something here? Lay a piece of fairway down with splines, lay rough down on the fairway spline points, pull out the measure tool to mark the handles to line up of those that are out of place & spline points & handles both disappear? I've got to missing something! 1st I've looked at the new designer this morning but....well, little help please!

can you post a screenshot of what you're having trouble with?

Why don't you use the "Second Surface" attribute of the Fairway spline and set that to "Rough"?

Thanks Paul, here's a short video showing what I'm looking at as described above! And ErixonStone, you'll notice in the video that the edit menu for a spline handle does not give you the "Second Surface" attribute.

When over spline way point, click on that line item in the bottom box or two on the screen.

Why don't you try deleting the rough spline altogether and then adding the rough as a second surface to the fairway spline?  I know that sounds like extra work, but then you don't have to keep messing with spline waypoint handles to get your fairway and rough to match up.

Is there anyway the spline surface you are working on can be labeled?  It use to tell you the type of spline it was, now you can move the wrong surface.

Also, make the waypoints scale with zoom again, really hard to see what handle, etc. you are picking.

Well 1st let me mention that this was a port & I was patching in a section to an existing fairway. The patch went down as fairway 1st then rough but I needed to move a fwy waypoint a little to meet up with the older area. Then I realized that when I try to move the rough handles that needed to be lined back up with the fairway as the video shows waypoints & handles disappear.
In TGC2 it wasn't an issue, simply use the measuring tool, edit, highlight the surface handles, & mark them with measuring tool.
In TGC2019 it seems like that function is no longer available, again as the video shows. Go to edit highlight surface splines, select measuring tool & waypoints & handles disappear, again as the video shows.

Now I haven't tried a new section nor have I had the need to yet since I'm just working on port overs but if your saying that laying down 'new' surfaces on top of each other like fairway then rough & all handles will line up correctly then that'll be a thing of beauty for ensuing designs. My gosh since splines have come in to the picture it's been nothing but time consuming building fairways & greens with multiple layers. I'll have to take a look at that later but for now the question to HB or anyone who may have figured it out, is there another way to line em' up if their off? Or was this something omitted or overlooked in the designer?

I ported over the course I designed in 2 for 2019 and I ran into this.  What ended up working the best for me was to delete the section I was having problems with and then lay the spline again as fairway, smooth and then add 2nd surface of rough.  Going forward I see this as a great time saver.

Thanks & ya, I'll look at that next time I run in to it but I still feel that without the measuring tool to use on handles when needed for a 'quick fix' is a little thing that I'd like to have handy. If everything lines up just right without it then cool. Thanks Dan!

Paul , I'd sure like to hear back though about this little function being omitted?
