RUGBY 15 (What YOU want to see)
« on: June 02, 2014, 10:50:40 PM »
I am so happy to know there will be a new rugby game coming out soon; so since we are on that subject, apart from licencing what do you want to see? i.e. hit stick usage? Better tackling animations?

For me a good training mode and mini games mode will be PERFECT!

A good multi season career mode. To be able to sign anyone from any league, and to be able to swap teams throught out the career

It would be cool if in career mode, when we take a team which is in second division, we could be promoted in first division ! Unlike in RUGBY CHALLENGE. Besides it would be great if we could use some combination, even more, if we could create our own combination ! May be it is possible to penalize some faults during the scrum or something...

Can't wait to have this game ;)

First of all licensed teams are a must without it, it will be a setback, the wind in the game  should be a little whirley not only blowing from one direction, game play is important it should be fast, set plays a must and be able to create your own and a great thing will be season career mode and even player career mode, croud should be more random not doing the same stuff all over including mexican wave,if players are injured but still play they should not perform so good.the graphics of rugby challenge was good but it is not too important for instance were the scrumhalf feeds the scrum it looks good but after a few games its boring even though it looks good.we want fast action packed game play and awsome hard hitting tackles and maybe pulling down at the lineouts, hoping for the best rugby game since rugby08 thanx,hb

I would like to see fully licensed International teams and tournaments. The ability to customize and create your own tournaments, Teams and Players and the ability to upload and share them like FIFA's Creation Centre. Lots of stadiums to choose from I don't care if there are a lot of generic ones either. Although I don't have to worry about the game being region locked on the XBOX One I hope the game will be easily available here in the States.

Most important thing for me is the flow of open play. In rugby challenge your back line was all over the place postionally - players had to make 20m passes and sometimes take the ball running backwards.

That was what made Rugby 06 flow so well in my view, and was helped by the ability to put your backs into formation before the scrum half passes. There was a glitch in the World Cup 2011 game that meant if you did "pocket" formation but didn't pick one of the running options ("messed up") then they ran through and you could pass it behind them to your full back, it really set the move going. The point is if the backs start with depth and not like rugby challenge then it becomes more like real rugby.

Contests at the ruck don't work in Rugby Challenge either for me. I like the idea of it but it needs to be thought out better, not just a button bash.

Kicking from hand was good in rugby challenge, I like the slow mo.

Overall I think the fact that the game has become more structured - what used to be set play formations are always used at rucks, and forward pods of 9 as one of them - it means when the game finally breaks up you have to execute, and you have to play well to earn the opportunity to break the game up.

Also if you could be a little more lenient in rating the england players that would be great, the kiwis who made RC were a little harsh/honest!

In the career mode I would like to see player developmen. So you can build young players upmand their rating gets better. Player retire ment would be good so you dont hav a load of 40 year olds. And a good online feature like seasons on fifa and madden

Having played all of the rugby games developed by HB studios, here are some things I would like to see improved to the gameplay.

Player positioning
I will start with defence first. The fullback should stand ALOT deeper, if you have one of the higher rated kickers then its very easy to kick a ball from deep in your own 22 and create a line-out in the opponents 22. Far to easy to exploit this one. Also if you specify 'kick' defence wingers should stand much deeper too and closer to the sidelines(Or even off the pitch to catch a kick for a quick lineout).
Perhaps the back 3 positioning should be abit more dynamic depending on the strength of the opposition kicker.

In attack players generally always stand too close together. Makes the defenders job easy as you can cover 2 players with 1.

Rucks
The scrum halfs usually seem to take an age to complete a pass from the base of the ruck. During this time I can just rush the first receiver and about 9/10 times he will be tackled on catching the pass.
This takes all the momentum out of the game I find.

Tackling
The current tackling is pretty over the top with too many big hits. But I think this is generally caused by turnover at the breakdown being too slow so defence has plenty of time to line up.

Kicking
Chip kicks introduces in the Rugby 11 are largely pointless, its almost impossible to  claim your own ball. I think mainly because the attacking player stops running, chip kicks shouldn't slow you down as much as up and unders.

Lineouts and scrums
Pretty simplistic currently, I think this is obvious.

Set plays
Really the only play of any use playing human opposition is 'pocket' for clearing the ball and taking drop goals. All the others are just too slow to execute and are spoiled by the defence.

I would really like to see a career mode like in the NFL series aswell as a sort of coach mode sort of like Rugby '06's & '08's World League. Also a create a stadium feature like in Pro Evolution Soccer and NFL '06. A create a team feature would be nice but it should atleast let you create ±30 teams. Better graphics, meaning realistic crowds and correct and MORE stadiums also more tournaments from around the world not just northern hemisphere tournaments and a much bigger roster, harder game play and make the ref visable ingame, just to name a few things I'd like to see.
