I was just looking at some promos for WGT on Facebook.  The graphics look pretty amazing compared to ours.  How is this possible?  Are the course backgrounds actual pictures?

Got to say when i am away from the consoles enjoy WGT on my amazon fire plays well,just a shame its all pay to play to get good clubs.

Between the imagery and the computer information integration it’s pretty impressive. 
In This Format I can see where the LiDAR is beneficial.  Yes, I did actually say that.... LOL.

Easy... they aren't rendered graphics; they're pictures.  They take thousands of photographs of the course, find the one that's closest to the golfer's position, display it and insert the golfer graphic at the appropriate spot in the picture.  It looks great in still pictures, but I'm not terribly impressed by it in action.  It just seems to be a static environment composed of a mosaic of photographs.  The golfer has to be moved about in the photograph to represent their actual location with the closest picture.  The lack of a totally meshed swing camera view makes me realize even more that I'm controlling a picture in a picture.  I don't find it to be very immersive.
