Although nothing seems to be looming over the horizon presently, which of the listed options do you see as most likely as the next release in the golf gaming (PC and console) world?  I voted TGC 2021 as my choice, but it's not one I'd put a lot of confidence in.  I'd say it's got a 57% chance of next, with a new golf game from EA Sports at 15%, Everybody's Golf PS4 15%, Perfect Golf 2 at 10%, and Microsoft golf at 3%.

LOL... 3 votes in a day, and 30 thread views.  That's probably a more telling barometer of where PC and console golf is right now in the minds of the gaming public than anything that might come from the actual poll  ???

I have insider knowledge Perfect Golf 2 won't be anytime soon. Since Perfect Parallel was swallowed up by Trackman it might not even be on the radar

I pushed PG 2 down my list because of the Trackman acquisition of Perfect Parallel.  I don't think Trackman has any interest in a PC or console golf game, but I get the feeling that Andrew and Mike sort of keep lobbying for it in the background.  They've said more than once that they've had PG2/VG2 working in a desktop environment, which makes a lot of sense.  What they do lack is a quality 3D, mo-capped avatar, and that would be the toughest hurdle they'd have to overcome.  I don't think Trackman would be willing to spend the kind of cash that would require.

Hmmmm..... I'm really surprised to see that 40% of the votes so far have come in for a new EA Sports golf franchise.  Somebody know something they'd like to share?  I know there was a story last Fall about EA Sports having a new franchise within the next fiscal year, but I didn't see anything that made me zero in on it being golf?

Two questions for those who've responded to the poll thus far:

Whoever chose "Other", would you care to elaborate on who you think might be bringing an as of yet unnamed golf game to the market?

For the voter who chose "A new golf franchise from Microsoft", on what basis did you make that choice?  I know some of you have some inside connections and I'm just trying to fish as as much as possible :D

My money is on tgc 2021, they are really the only hope for keeping console golf alive. Pp2 by every thing i've read is a no show, ea will never start a golf game again the money isn't there like other games and microsoft the same. Golf is a small niche of people and most companies will have to have something else to sustain them and we have been blessed to have tgc franchise even with them abandoning the last 2 games so early.  This is just my opinion

As weak a product, from the gameplay standpoint, as I found Rory Mcliroy PGA TOUR to be, it still managed to somehow sell over 700,000 copies between the XBox One and PS4 combined  :o  EA Sports just revived the online support of the game and I'm now seeing hundreds of people playing the tournaments again.  I reinstalled it and thought I needed to look at what I might have missed 4 1/2 years ago... it's just as bad as I remembered it being.  Yes, it's got great graphics, but that's about all I can say for it.  I was playing in the "Pro" division tournament with the supposed highest difficulty level, and the leader was -27 for 18 hole ::)  The arcade tournament leader was like -33  ??? :o

Tiger Woods PGA 13 had a much better swing interface and infinitely better presentation modes, with its Tru-Aim camera presentation.  I would love to see what a 2020, next-gen console version of that game could be like, but I have the feeling that EA Sports isn't anywhere near ready to get back into the golf market.

I see we now have a vote for Everybody's Golf PS5, which I'm pretty sure we'll eventually see on the PS5, but if it's like the release for the PS4, it won't be until the PS5 has been on the market for two years.  Wouldn't it be ironic if it winds up being released before any of the other hypothetical choices here, in 2022!?

If they have revived the online support and people are playing it again is that a clue to what might happen in the future.

It is a very peculiar move for them to make.  I wonder if it's maybe a trial balloon to gauge what level of interest there might be in a future, related product?

If you do so, I'd like to read your revised thoughts on RMPGAT.  I was surprised at how good it still looks.  If I was a 3-clicker, I could perhaps get back into it, but I get bored with 3-click interfaces pretty quick.

The analog stick swing just feels so "flicky" in this game.  I also find it considerably easier to "dial in" a carry distance with RMPGAT's thumbstick swing than TGC 2019's.  Swing the stick until the 'green HUD bubble' illuminates and you're going to be able to 'flick' the stick at that point and have a 98% chance of getting just the carry distance you dialed-up.

Did they actually shut the servers down for a time with the online options?

I’ve just given it another go after reinstalling it, swing feels ok I could get away with it apart from the bunker shot animation. Putting however is a world away from TGC2019 which is far superior in my opinion. Rory still does look good though and presentation is good.
