Folks, I think it's high time that we all take a minute here and pay homage to one of our esteemed, fellow TGC Forum members - JohnEric.  He told us months ago with 100%, absolute metaphysical certitude, that this day was coming.  His unbridled assurance of the future of this franchise is what has kept some of us going over the last six months!

And with that I say, "JohnEric, this Bud's for you!"  :-* ;D

No need to thank me brother,   I just knew based on conversations I had with people in the "KNOW" that HB wouldn't not abandon what has put them on the map!  I walked away from brief conversations with no doubt that a new game was coming even though I wasn't told that there was.  I think you and I can agree that even with TGC's warts it's value for the video golf fan is immeasurable!   Sure,  we like to raz HB over little aspects of the game that seem wonky but overall at it's core it's an amazing game built over the years by all of us!   I have always felt like I was more of a casual video golf fan in terms of the sim side of things,  but that never meant I didn't want some realism.   I have always been the voice of the casual golfer with a mild addiction :).. HAHAHAHA...

It's going to be incredibly interesting how they've talckled and shaped this game.  My guess is there is probably quite a bit of work going into multiplayer,  and of course you know I would like that,  but at the end of the day I wish for the most well rounded game possibly.   I don't think HB is going to go to far from the script,  in my opinion they will keep much of what was in the TGC 19 but with improvements.   For those of you that are worried about them abandoning the course creator I can assure you that this would never happen!  Also,  HB is not going to abandon the PC gamers either because they know how important these designers are to the longevity of this game.

I don't agree with what someone said earlier about all the DLC.  Sure there may be some content but I don't think HB is going to offer rocket power drives or bunny suit's with special powers..  Hb is a very conscious about not turning the game into a pay to improve interface and I can't see that changing.  I think it's obvious from the trailer that a big focus is going to be about playing on Tour as or with the pros!  This is what makes people want to purchase the game,  but make no mistake about it,  the course creator is what gives it longevity.  I'm excited!

Please HB,  give us a way to share user created society templates of our tour course schedules.

One thing that I absolutely DO NOT want to see in the new game is the earned/paid attribute enhancements that were in the TW/Rory series.  The (somewhat) level playing field and the practiced learning curve are one of the most realistic things about TGC.  Also, the course creator could definitely use some love.

As someone that has followed game since before the original was first launched & played this game in every iteration, I find it interesting how much the spirit of the game has changed.  When the game first launched in 2014, EA had the PGA licensing tied up.  The messaging from Anthony Kyle/HB Studios was making a game that was to have the feel of the “weekend warrior” amateur golfer. No licensed equipment, courses or tour related stuff.  The calming voice of John “The Voice” added to it.   As we’ve moved forward, (and as the EA license has lapsed), the shift seems to be complete.  Licensed courses and gear abound. Even the title no longer reflects The Golf Club.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it necessarily a bad thing, it is just interesting to me how very different this game has become from the original spirit.

Well timed as I’ve just stopped designing given the lack of anything new for ages. Hopefully this will get me going again and wonder when it will be released. From the clip I hope the crowds will look better than they do in the clip, we shall see. Good news.

With the PS5 rumoured to weigh in at £550-600 and games at £70, this had better be a very polished and tested release.

This explains why the HB team have been a little more visual on the forums and social-media, as its new release time again and they only communicate when they want our money.

I’ll be surprised if the designer is still in there. If it’s a full blown PGA tie-in with proper players, courses, equipment and an immersive tour experience then I can live without the designer, but if it’s a half-effort PGA experience like the current game then it will need the designer to prop it up again.

Haven’t been on the forum for what seems like ages.
The 2K21 video just dropped into YouTube which has me eager to find out more in this current golfing drought.
Tim would have been first to the forums for discussion......how long has it been now since he passed.

Yeah, the 14th can't get here fast enough, but I'm sure we'll still have questions after that.

Yep, Tim would have been camped in here as soon as the news broke.  It's been almost 18 months since his passing... I still miss him.  :(

As the Open Championship is officially part of the PGA tour, does this mean we’ll be finally getting a named links course with proper bunkers and tournament infrastructure?

Yeah Timmy would have been all over it.

I am in little bit of shock. Never thought I would see the day.  Great news!

I have a long list of things I hope they correct/add but I will wait till the formal announcement. I do hope they have a sim option or the ability to turn everything off like we can now.  Without that I will not buy the game.

The bunker on the 17th at Sawgrass reflected the same, non-descript look of the bunkers we've had in the first 3 TGC games.  I don't think there's much they can do with the course DNA model they use for course creation, so that courses don't have to be stored on the platform's local hard drive.

Are you thinking it’s the same unity game engine JC?

Some adverts are saying PS4 but others show nothing. I can’t see this releasing on current platforms with next-gen arrivals in autumn.

Confused.

You would think with the timing they had to have had the next gen consoles in mind.
