I’ve had a very unsuccessful and bad experience trying to use Steam to download the PGA Tour 2019 game for PC, and I would prefer to acquire it any other way. Is it possible to buy the DVD directly from HB?

What was your experience trying to download the game ?

PC is a digital download only  ..... You can get a disk version for Playstation and Xbox though.

The bad experience with Steam stemmed from getting an error message whenever I entered any information in their signup.  They had me change my password, and my email address, which I did to no avail….they had me jumping through repeated hoops in proving that I was not a robot….they had me provide special codes emailed to me, which also did no good, because I always got an error message regardless of how careful I was in providing answers.  After half an hour of this runaround I gave up.

Someone in this PC forum claimed that a DVD version for the PC was available through several sources, and I posted a response asking for details…but it was an old thread.  (See thread asking if the game can be bought as a gift)  You are saying that the PC version is only available through the Steam service.  If that’s the case, I will have to find another PC golf game that doesn’t use Steam.

I replied to your other post.  You can buy the disk almost everywhere.... but the PC version still accesses the internet through Steam.  I’ve been playing all TGC GAMES THROUGH steam and have never had any problems.. what problems are you having?

For my problems with Steam, read above post.  Is there no Internet option other than Steam?  Do they hold the monopoly on all things Internet and downloading for all games?  I would gladly forego the Internet features, and restrict myself to offline playing, if I could bypass Steam in any way.  I’ve been unable to find any source that sold the disks alone.

Yes, you can play the game offline.  But that limits you to the official courses that come with the game.  I think there’s 23.  PS4 doesn’t use steam and I don’t think Xbox does either.

Bottom Line Question:  Is there any outlet that will sell a DVD version for the PC that will NOT require a Steam download?

The DVD itself installs Steam automatically.  Sorry.

Sounds like you may have some system protection software blocking the install. Disable it and/or run setup as administrator.
