I applaud your perseverance ... if you didn't beat the hell out of that drum, we may have never got 60hz for consoles.
With the lack of initial responses I would have thrown in the towel a long time before ... so kudos.

Well thanks, but I think a lot of what I did was wasted breath.  From what Craig says they'd made their minds up to add this 60 Hz vsync option long ago, but they sat on it so that it could be bundled with the Season 2 release.

The 2K forum is a wasteland and the only person replying there is the moderator, who's job is, to pour cold water over the posters .
He knows no more than we do and as for the bug reporting process ... that's a shambles ... we are dealing with auto bots there .

I'm afraid you're right, it will correspondence will degernerate to nil, but I'll continue posting here until they shut it down.

Be a shame if this forum is no more but I'm surprised it has lasted this long considering a lot of top games don't have forums anymore. I have held off from twitter for this long but it might be the only way in the future. I could deal with twitter but facebook is never going to happen.

So today is my final round for my 4 letter word society at Bethpage and I am 3 under through 3 rounds. Which is pretty good for me on a very tough course. There is no way without 60hz I could be under par after 3 rounds in my society . Hopefully I can pull it off and get my second win.

Again thanks to JC and HB this 60hz has made the game so much better.

Thanks Paul, it really means a lot to me to see that so many other Series X and S owners are appreciating what this has done for the game.  I knew it would be good based on what I'd experienced with it on the PC at 60 FPS, but it actually plays better, IMHO, on the Series X than it does on my PC.  As you've probably already read, HB Studios had decided long ago to add the 60 Hz option, but I guess they had some sort of sanctions in place that prevented them from communicating that.  Whatever the case, I'm just glad it's here now.

Just noticing that we didn't have a single now post in the "XBox One" or the "All Platforms" forum sections here for over 30 hours... I think that might be a record.  If you're like me, it's because you're playing the game more now with the ability to play it faster frame rates.

Anyway, I made an observation yesterday that might be of help to some of you on the XBox Series X and S, even though I noticed it while testing a course on the PC.  There's a course called "Knob's Creek Tour", on which the CC tours are playing this week for TGC Tours.  Some are noticing shimmering and stuttering on that course, even on the Series X.  I noticed it while playing a test round and say both shimmering and stuttering/judder like I've not seen on the Series X, post 60 Hz vsync patch.

I set up a local match on the PC at Knob's Creek Tour using comparable Series X settings and resolution on my PC.  My first tee benchmark measured 39 FPS, which is only one FPS higher than what I've ever seen on the PC on any other course, and that was Quail Hollow (official), where I see 38 FPS.  I wanted to see how much shutting off the TAA (Temporal Anti Aliasing) to "None" would help improve it.  I saw 42 FPS at Knobs Creek Tour with it off.

I then took that knowledge back to the Series X, where I typically play with AA set to "None", and changed it to "TAA".  I could then tell the judder and shimmering was more in evidence.  Turned it back to none, and the animation had more pep in its step, but honestly, the course - as gorgeous as it is - was borderline unplayable.  Thankfully most of the performance issues with it aren't nearly as noticeable during the swing animation.

I'm only playing in the Beer League in TGC Tours anymore, but I was wondering if any of you are noticing this who may be playing a CC event right now?

Have any of you Series X owners noticed an increasing trend in getting 2 to 3 second freezes when playing 2K21 over the last couple of weeks?  I had gotten to the point where I was seeing happen at least twice per round, and usually just after the golfer was shown in the new address position following the previous shot.

Yesterday I played two different Society rounds and didn't notice any freeze at all during either round.  I played one round earlier today in a Society round and had no freezes of any sort.  I was thinking it was a server traffic problem perhaps, but I noticed at TGC Tours Forum that those playing on XBox One Xs were not having the problem with the two to three second freeze.

I hope it stays like it has been for my prior three rounds.  Fortunately, none of the freezes have occurred my swing, but I've heard from those who have.

Has anyone using a Series X and tuned into this thread played this week's "Beer League" event at TGC Tours?  I ask because the course being used, Grand Lakuna, winds up being plagued by a lot of shimmering and stutter.  Fortunately, the shimmering an stutter didn't affect the swing, but when I'm panning for aim, the shimmering of the distant trees if very annoying.  The stutter of the ball in flight and rolling also gets a little out of hand.

Had my XSX for a little over a week now, and I am getting back into playing this game again, as I found playing using my day one Xbox One, an exercise in frustration and unexplainable inconsistency.

I am enjoying the game again, and will continue playing, after pretty much not touching the game for the best part of 8-9 months.

Welcome back to the fold HIL!  I had strayed away from 2K21 on my XBox One X because it was shackled to 30 FPS, and had moved over to playing it on my PC, on which the game was outfitted with the necessary options from the outset to allow it to be played at 60 FPS, or higher, on PCs that were capable of doing so.  I missed my XBox friends and societies however, so when the 60 Hz vsync option was added in the Season Pass 2 update, I immediately came back to the XBox one family.

While I'm grateful to be able to play the game at rates that hover around 60 FPS, I'd love to have a third vsync option of "OFF", so that the game could seek its own frame rate in a way without being plagued with screen judder and shimmering on the occasions where the Series X can't always render at 60 frames per second.  With the Series X's ability to support variable refresh rate (VRR) and a VRR compliant display, we would have a solution that would be free of judder, shimmering, without having to endure screen tearing normally associated with an unlocked vsync.  It would mean I'd have to buy a new VRR capable HDTV, but at this point I'm just looking for a good excuse to buy one. ;D

In the nothing ventured - nothing gained department; is it too late to ask for a third option, Vsync "OFF" to be added to the XBox version of PGA TOUR 2K21?

Seeing that another update was made for PGA TOUR 2K21 this week, I'll venture another plea for the addition of a "Vsync OFF" option to be added for the console versions, particularly for  the XBox Series X and PS5.  It's a popular option on the PC version and I'd love to have a reason to buy a Variable Refresh Rate capable, 120 Hz HDTV.

The first thing I did after installing the recent update was to go to the graphics options to see if "OFF" had been added to the vsync options of 30 and 60 Hz... my heart sank when I saw that it hadn't :D  I still appreciate the 60 Hz option though... I doubt I'd still be playing the game if it wasn't in the mix.

Hope all is well JC.

Thought you would be interested in this. I have both copies of Battlefield 2042 for XS and the X . My son also has a copy of the PC version. The difference between the XS version and the X version is very noticeable. Looks way better on the XS and it runs a lot smoother. A lot less latency. The load times are way faster as well. The difference between the PC and XS are not as much but the XS does seem to out perform the PC version on loading and stability. My guess is EA will optimize the PC version to improve it. I am not sure what specs my son's PC is but I know it was around 2K two years ago so it's certainly a decent rig.

Very impressed with the XS to say the least. BF looks amazing and rarely see any problems running it. Unfortunately the gameplay and server problems are dragging down the enjoyment of the XS performance. There are some other really odd decisions they made with this game as well. It's almost like they tried to completely change the direction of battlefield. Not surprising I guess with the way things are nowadays. I get amazed on how companies cater to demographics that are not their core market share. All EA had to do is update BF4 and boom instant sales. Instead it's some lost version of BF with literally soldiers stuck in a climate change doomsday scenario with non Patriots soldiers who look like Fortnite characters.

The portal is cool though.

Anyway sorry for the off topic mini review.

Thanks for the report; that's just the kink of information I thrive on! Do they give you an option between performance and quality settings when playing on the Series X?  I wish all developers would do that.

I've been enjoying Forza Horizon 5 quite a bit on the Series X, and I play it in performance mode (4K/60 FPS).  There's a quality mode option (4K/30 FPS with enhanced graphics), but the only time I can really spot the difference in graphics is in still screens.  It's certainly nowhere near enough an improvement to give up 60 FPS for!

I'd like to be able to test the new Battlefield out someday.  Maybe they'll offer a free play trial weekend and I will.  I just suck so bad at first person shooters that I hate to invest a whole lot of $$ into it :D

Now I have seen the SS run BF I can say I am impressed. I have played a decent amount with my son. It can hang pretty well with the SX. Mine looks better for sure but performance wise it's close.  What's funny is the SS and SX both out perform his PC which is a nice one.  So anyone who is debating on giving up on trying to get a SX and settle for the SS I would say you would be pleased.  Not sure you have a choice anyway. I don't see the supply problems going away anytime soon.

Thanks for this report on the Series S performance.  I'm toying with the idea of getting one from my bedroom.  I have a 2018 vintage 55" TCL Series 6 in my rec room that can go no higher than a 60 Hz  refresh rate.  I'm thinking about buying a VRR capable display for my Series X in the rec room so I can benefit from the Series X's VRR support and be able to play games that support 120 Hz.  I could move the older TCL to my bedroom and at least have a low input lag, 60 Hz 4K display for the Series S.  I wouldn't be doing any heavy duty gaming on that system anyway, so the 60 Hz cap wouldn't be a problem for me. there.

I'm a little torn now on which VRR capable HDTV I'll be buying for my rec room after reading some reports over the weekend.  I had thought about getting the 2021 vintage TCL Series 6, but I'm reading more and more reports of hardware failure with it.  Both of my current TCL Series 6s, one a 2018 and the other a 65" 2019 version have been stellar, but I don't want to take what I now consider to be an unacceptable risk with the 2021 version.

Take a look at the LG C1, it's the 2021 model and the price is coming down nicely. The new model will be due out around March so if you can hang on till then the C1 could be even more affordable. I have both the CX (2020 model) and the C1, the C1 has more gaming options but both are capable of 120hz and Dolby Vision

Thanks for that lead PooSplatt.  That's a great looking set and one I'd jump on in a heartbeat if I were responsible enough to treat an OLED display with proper care... I'm not.  I had a plasma back in 2008 that was a victim of my inattention to burn in provisions.  I've been paying attention since the advent of OLED to see if my habits could change.  Sadly, I'm still far too prone to walk off and leave static, HUD rich displays on my LED screens on both my PC, XBoxes, and PS4 up in full contrast.  An OLED set wouldn't last a week with me... well, not without burn in. :-[
