Hi, have been playing The golf club from the beginning and so the series owes me nothing as I have gotten thousands of rounds in through the years.  I held off getting 2k23 based on what I was reading here and other places but picked it up today.  I only have 9 holes in over 3 different courses, but hoping that there is some good tips to make the courses look better.  The same courses in 2k21 look so much better to me.  In addition, my fan is running much louder.  Without HDR they look horrible. With HDR they look better but dead to me.  I just cannot understand how users of this game on the identical console can have such varied feedback so was hoping my setup would be on the good side but in this situation so far not. Also, playing as JT and to me he does not look as good as in 2k21.  I am on the same TV.  On the positive side the swing is smoother with the exception of the chip for me. Thoughts to try anyone ? Thanks

Fan for me runs louder too as it does in 2k21 in 60hz mode which makes me think they set 2k23 to 60hz as default. I'm ok with it on 2k21 though as it is so much smoother and better looking IMO than what I can get on 2k23 and I have a 4k TV - LG C1. As you say, HDR mode is just wrong and when disabled, 2k21 still looks better on the same TV. Granted the trees look better on 2k23 but that's it. The weird blur they put on distanced objects is distracting and not pretty.

The only way I could try and get a good picture is changing TV settings but then while tinkering with this (all on a different input source so I didn't mess with my current settings for my existing games which look absolutely beautiful), I decided why should I have to do this. The game is not great and I still get a glitch in the backswing animation. 2k21 on 60hz is way smoother on the One X - 2k23 is just as smooth however on my Series S but the graphics/lighting are still way off.

End of day for me, 2k21 is beautiful on my current settings, plays great (except the short game failings) and does not have the things I massively hate about 2k23 which put me off playing it, so I'm sticking to 21.

Not much help to you I know - sorry about that.

Martbloke thanks for the reply.  This was a help as it least tells me I am not crazy about how I was seeing the looks of the courses in 2k23.  I also have a higher end Samsung 4k tv so 2k21 looks really good and alive in comparison.  Like you I don’t have the want or need to mess with settings on my tv to try and make it look decent.  I will stick with 2k21 and if 2K gets there act together and puts out a great patch to fix it, I will give it another shot.  Happy Holidays and thanks again.
