I have played 2K23 for 2 Months solid having previously played 2K21 which I love. unfortunately 2K23 I don't even like.
First problem is the Gameplay which I will admit some aspects are an improvement from 2K21 the Driving and Fairway wood shots are on the money when it comes to realism, I cannot say the same about the Iron shots, the trajectory for me is too shallow you could expect this form longer irons but not 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 wedge.
Also the chip/pitch shot is nearly impossible to get right the timing is very tight and to get right you have to alter your swing timing from the rest of swings. Which is difficult when playing a round where you might get into a grove with swing timing throughout the round and be playing well, then you get the dreaded chip shot and try as you might you can not get the timing correct and the shot lands way short and from there you are struggling to make par, not I feel through your own ability but a problem in the programming for the chip shots. I have played Golf for 40 years and have never known a chip shot react like this, the only way you would replicate what happens in the Game is if you either shanked it or hit the ball too fat. The other thing I have noticed is that the more lofted clubs tend to fade and drawer the same as the lower Irons which does not happen in the real game, surely it would not have taken a lot of coding to have the more lofted clubs react correctly, I feel the chipping was much better in 2K21.The other thing that drives me crazy is around the green if you have a chip shot even if you hit the shot perfectly and hole the shot the Golfer animation shows him shrugging his shoulders as if he has duffed it. I understand that the game is trying to cater for everyone but for a purist who wants a realistic simulation this is very poor. After playing 2K21 I was really exited to see wat improvements would be in 2K23 and am very disappointed. This game could and should have been the very pinnacle of Golf Sims but falls way short. I thought that 2K21 with a few tweak's would be very close, so how did they Mess this up. The game looks like it has been put together by people who don't play the game.

Got to agree about the trajectory into the greens does feel very flat, very similar to the EA Sports Rory McIlroy game. The long irons and hybrids seem to stop quicker on the greens than the short irons which seems a little odd.

Due to the distance of chip shots the animation will never look right in real time. Swing stick try full loft full backspin see if that helps most of the better players I have seen on YT do this. The follow camera is a step back from 21 the trajectory looks a little better using one of the side cams.

Fit all you wedge clubs with timing based fittings and you'll find chipping and pitching tempo is not difficult at all regarding tempo. Just a slightly slower tempo needed.Chipping and splash in 2K21 was absolutely awful and made the short scrambling game a walk in the park, we do have a bit of feel to the short game now and more difficultly which was needed big time more than anything imo.
Miss a green now and you are punished for it. The last game's chipping felt more bump and run only we now have that 60 degree wedge chip that many pros play irl. Granted bump and runs with less lofted clubs feels clumsy in 2K23 but overall the scrambling is a huge improvement. You can short side yourself and most importantly heavy rough lies actually produce heavy rough lies results.
For the record I play zero aids with no follow cam on master difficulty and the game feels way more like golf than the previous game. My beef is long irons, woods and driver are just too easy in this game on master difficulty.
But the fact that swing path is more difficult is good but the arcade elements and the building up attributes are just a bore and not sim, the option to skip arcade stuff like this would be appreciated . Just having an archetype to pick would have been much better.

That's a massive wall of text, I can't read through much of it.  Also, there is already a topic named the same thing, post there.

With that said, I find the gameplay very good, takes a bit to figure out the now true tough shots, as that is what golf is.  I wis the multiplayer was more open to customization.  The game in general gets too dark at times, not sure if it's a lighting issue or an issue with older courses.  All in all, a good upgrade from 2K21 for me on a PS5.
