bradleystuart's post "Ramblings of an old man...." inspired me with an idea because he mentioned sharing the course file with other designers. It sounds silly and is more of an experiment, but hear me out and let me know what you think.
I've seen storytelling improv exercises like this in grade school. A student starts telling a story and the teacher stops them and tells another student to continue the store, then keeps going from child to child until the story needs to be wrapped up.
What if we could have a course built by multiple designers. Each designer builds one hole, then passes it on to the next designer and they build a new hole, pass it on to the next and they build a hole, so on and so forth. Even if it's only 5 guys you can go right back to designer #1 after #5 finishes his hole.. Everyone keeps building a hole at a time until the course is done. So the course file will be passed around 18 times. You're not allowed to modify another individual's hole, hole pars will likely have to be predetermined, and each builder has to try and maintain consistency with the holes already built.
Of course, designers can talk with one another, share pictures and design ideas, but ultimately, only one designer can decide the final design for a hole.
Might lead to some interesting results. It will motivate the next builder to try and build a better hole than the previous ones built before it. You'd probably have to pre-decide what the par of each hole would be.
I'd be up for this if anyone is willing to try.
