HOW IT WILL WORK
THE CANVAS
-The first project involved a group vote on things such as what the theme would be, what the layout would be, and what the course name would be. Well for this one event we’re not going with democracy, we’re going with dictatorship!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding… kind of… I’m sure many people here have been feeling the same way I have, and have been getting Links fever. So I’ve decided that this event will be a links themed course.
-The layout was voted on last time, but I like the idea of keeping everyone on their toes and forcing a little improvisation, even for myself. Dr. Yeti has volunteered to build the plot for this project. I don’t even know what it’s going to look like. If you’re familiar with his work, I’m sure you’ll agree when I say we’re going to have a fine piece of land to work with.
THE FIRST BUILDER
The first build will have one of the most important roles. They will be the person that decides the clubhouse location, and the location of the first hole. They will also determine the minor details like: tee blocks, yardage markers, etc.
THE TURN AND THE FINAL HOLES
Since we are trying to achieve a realistic course, it is preferable the 9th and 18th hole finish near the clubhouse. HOWEVER, the 9th hole has a little forgiveness because it is also not uncommon for some courses to have halfway houses between 9 & 10 if the holes do not start making their way back to the clubhouse. For the final holes 14-18, some coordination and planning will be required between the final 4 builders. The last project had great communication between the final builders and we were able to shape the final holes so that the 18th finished right behind the clubhouse. That will be expected again.
COURSE FILE
-The transfer of the course file will be handled by myself. When you have completed a hole, please send it to me and I will pass it on to the next builder. I only request that I handle the transaction because it caused quite a bit of confusion with the first project.
-I will send a copy of the course file to everyone on the team after holes 6, 12, and 18 have been completed. This will allow everyone to see how the course is coming along and will allow everyone to test play and offer comments and suggestions regarding the course and the holes.
T-E-A-M
-That’s not an acronym, I just wanted to highlight the fact that this is a Team design. So everyone is allowed to voice their concerns, give comments, or notify other builders of issues they have had with their hole. This is only meant to be constructive and not an attack. If a builder believes in their hole and doesn’t feel it needs to be changed, than they have every right to stand by their design.
-There are lots of people on this team that have lots of experience with the creator. If you have trouble with something, or want to know how to do certain things, feel free to ask myself or other teammates. If you need a curved bridge, you can always ask Tastegw to build it for you. If you need help with a rock formation, I heard Dr. Yeti is good at that stuff. When in doubt, just email me. If I can’t help you with a problem, I’m familiar enough with most of the team’s previous that I can refer you to someone more experienced with that element than I.
WRAP UP
Once all 18 holes are done, some individuals, will be tasked with adding elements like benches, water coolers, yardage markers, redundant tees etc. This is to help with the course consistency. If you want to add redundant tee blocks to your hole, that is fine, because it saves those touch-up specialists work. However, please be aware of what previous holes did before you and keep those details consistent with what the previous builders have done. This includes using the same style, color, and number of tee blocks.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me and I will answer or speak to you regarding these issues.
